Wow! Love seeing the activity on here. I didn't realize there were so many qualifications?....8 or 9?? So if I understand correctly, they do these qualifications AFTER they leave Pensacola, right? Btw, my son informed me (via text) that he is classing up next Tuesday. (Oct 12th) and finishes around mid Feb? Did any of your boys mention what the destinations for everyone were? I know that the top dog or dogs get their choices but was wondering where the other classmates were placed as far as destinations were that needed filling. Again, I realize that these places change as needs change within the organization.......again though......just wonderin' . ;) wink

Welcome aboard, Mama Eagle! :)

My son PIR'd 8/27th. He's been there for 5 weeks now and recently heard that he may be classing up soon. Either this Monday (Oct.4th) or the following Monday. From my understanding the classes are very small ranging anywhere from 10 to 18 students at a time.

By the way.....seems like there are only 3 of us "newbie" moms on here these days. There are a few others (Slimsam & mhill) whom have sons that have already "Flown the Pensacola Nest" so to speak and have kindly kept me company on this site and answered some of my questions. :)
To learn more about the AC world, I went ahead and read the entire previous 18 pages they have on this site. They are from previous months......some even a few years back? (If i recall right?) I found it helpful since there isn't much activity on this site.

Karebear- Where are you? I seem to have lost your reply type email address. I sent one and it didn't go through. It was under "navy-do-not-reply" or something of that nature. LOL Can you tell i'm not computer literate! How did we EVER survive the 70s & 80s with out them?! haha. Anyways, thanks for the info today. I truly appreciate it! :)

My son Jack PIR'd this past Friday 9/17/10. Scheduled to leave Great Lakes on 9/22 and has been told school for him starts on 10/5/10. All I know so far. Would like to keep in touch with others with sons and daughters going or just starting AC A-School.

Hi slimsam & mhill,

My boy is now in his 3rd week of waiting for classes to start. He still has no idea when they will start either. He got a job working in the flight simulator classrooms (behind the scenes?) working and setting up the flight simulators so the AC students can practice taking off & landing aircraft. He seems to enjoy it. He said it was for the C school AC students. We weren't aware that the AC's had a C school there......thought C school was in Norfolk, VA.
How long of a wait did your sailors have before their A school started?

Btw, I want to thank you both for keeping me company on this very lonely website.
I actually went on all the PIR sites and tried to welcome & encourage if there were any AC moms whom wanted to come on board this site. Didn't really get a response. lol
I really can't blame them.....trying to get through boot camp (as a worried mom) is horrendous! lol Maybe a few others will discover us eventually. lol

lol....I just private messaged you about knowing EXACTLY where you live....and then 'poof!', i got your comment about living in Santa Clarita. lol
When did your boy graduate and how many started out, how many 'washed-out', and how many graduated? I can't believe the stuff I've been hearing, regarding class size and all.

Hi mhill,
I'm from San Diego. Speaking of which....is your sailor stationed in Diego Garcia? When did your boy graduated from A school? I'm hoping my sailor can be stationed in SanDiego or at the very least somewhere on the west coast.

Welcome to all new AC moms out there. As you can see below, this site was last active by AC moms back on July 2nd!
So, I put out a call to each and every single PIR site out there for all AC moms to join, and hopefully we can re-activate this support group for us new AC moms. Btw, my son PIR'd on 8/27/2010. He is currently in Pensacola on hold for AC school to start.
