Thanks JL
Hi Roni13 Is your sailor in A School right now? Mine is there and will graduate next Friday. She will be home after that for 10 day leave.
Hi @AZMOM.
Would you mind giving some additional information on AC's do not do AWAT? I read that all newcomers to the Aviation Training facility are required. Is that not the case?
Hello..
New Navy mom of an AC trainee. Was curious about the ATT and AWAT courses that I read were required prior to beginning the actual training classes.
Any suggestions to pass along that would be helpful in preparing my sailor for his training ?
Thanks.
Can anyone tell me about Jacksonville, Flordia's Naval Base as far as Air Traffic Controllers go? Good place to be to get qualifications? Nice base? It's definitely a great location.
My son had 15 days before he flew out to his new station. He should find out soon. Where is yours going?
MarNavyMom Thank You!
We live in VA and Pensacola would be about a 10 hr. drive. If my son can come home on leave with us after he graduates it might be worth it to make the drive. How many days of leave did your son have? And is it usually the same for all graduates?
Hi Gretta,
I went to the graduation and we were happy that we went. There were only like 13 or less students graduating and maybe 20 parents so it was kind of a big crowd. As you know it is nothing like PIR. But they do show a short video and it is a formal occasion so they are are dressed up and we were dressed nice too. They each are called up and receive their certificate. If they got a letter or anything special they may spend more time up there. So it may have been about 45 min total.
So ours was an 8 hour drive so for us it was worth it but I know flying is expensive. We also wanted to visit Pensacola one more time. He was able to leave with us. He did have to stay an extra day so we could not plan it until we knew.
This information may not help you but I hope it does.
I'm looking for information about the graduation ceremony from Air Traffic Control School. I would like to attend when my son graduates in Dec. but he is telling us it's not that big of a deal. His opinion. For those of you who have attended, is it worth the airline ticket and hotel accommodations? Also, will my son be getting leave right after he graduates? If he is going to come home right after, this might play a part in our decision to attend the ATC graduation as well. Thanks for any advise.
