Hi everyone.. My son also is waiting for classes. Thanks for the helpful info. He starts on the 15th... Also said he is happy to be there.. Better then boot camp..

He says it'll be 6 weeks before school starts. Every day it takes is more time for things to change at Whidbey. Though tbh he'll be happy wherever he goes-he's just glad to be out of boot camp :)

Welcome Maile!  My son just started his classes about 10 days ago and had his 1st test today, 2nd test is Wednesday!  He has been studying like mad and he really likes his instructor.  He called me today to say he did awesome on his 1st test so mamma can breathe a little easier tonight!  Lots & lots of tests to take but he's off to a great start!  Good luck to all our sailors!

My daughter arrived in Pcola last week...she said it could be a while before classing up. My daughter wants Washington too...she said she was told tho..that no matter how well she does, her chances of it are next to nothing? Don't know how accurate that is though.

@Diane, You are so right about the study, study, study...my son has been at his A school in Pcola for about a month and half.  He started his classes about 3 weeks later and he's been studying, study musters, tests 2x a week, and that schedule all over again. He's determined he is gonna do this. He knows what it takes to get it done...so far.

I agree, I worked mostly with Radar. I know for a while I walked around with an R on my Left hand and an L on the Right. To remind me it was backwards.

calbransmommy (AC at Whidbey) congrats! That's the first big step for many other positions. As long as he studies, he shouldn't have a problem picking up 3rd class. It's when they start getting into 2nd and 1st that it gets tough.

SHIP 11 DIV 198 Jacob's Mom For the first four months I waited for school, I was cleaning the buliding we lived in. I was held a little longer than most because I was really sick when I got there. You should have time on weekends. Some days you can get a special liberty if there is a good reason. I got free time right away but it is just for a couple hours in the evening. You have to muster at the end of the day. Eventually you can go without uniform, and some time into it you get over night liberty (free time)
