What began as a 9- month deployment is getting cut short! We were told today that the Eisenhower n the Hue will be back before Xmas! They'll redeploy in the spring, but still--our Sailors will be home for Xmas! My Soldier gets 2 weeks' leave in Dec too! This is one happy Navy/Army mom!

I am a new Navy for Moms member and I accidently came across this site. Awesome.  Does anyone else here have a son/daughter that has a PIR date of 11/30/2012?  Was just wondering.  My son has 29 more days to go ugh, missing him sooooo bad

Daughter did her swearing in for DEP on 9/11. Didn't get her first choice of job because she didn't score high enough on the dlab. She took a job, but she will re......choose? later. All the Intel jobs are closed to HS Seniors for now. Her tentative ship date is Late August 2013.

I know they say the first swearing in is no big deal, but I was the only mom there and the 12 boys who swore in with my girl decided to adopt me as their mom for the day. I congratulated them and told them how proud I was of them and I was hugged so much my ribs hurt. I think they need someone there, even if they say they don't. One poor guy was dq'd and had to stay all day. No one was there to comfort him :(

Austin's Mom Mines son flew out Montgomery on the 12th to Atlanta. How did you find out about the date.

Feeling glad & sad. . . Finally heard from my Sailor in the 2nd month of his deployment. He is adjusting well . . . But felt so bad for him, too. They had 2 or 3 wonderful ports of call the first 3 weeks, but he was SIQ and never got off the ship. PNEUMONIA! He says he is well now.

Thanks Dolphin! By my count, we are 12 days closer to the end of this deployment. Going to be a long 8 1/2 months.
