Since we are now able to send packages, wouldn't it be great if we shared our creative ideas of what we intend to send to our sailors?

I sent 4 different care packages today.

One box was all bathroom and grooming things.  (Since my husband lives in a hotel right now, we have so much of this stuff, that it would be silly for him to buy it at the NEX)

One box was some of his civvies clothes, his Navy blanket and shoes that he wanted.

A 3rd box contained his favorite dvd's, which I took out of the boxes and packed in a cd case.  I also sent some of his XBox games as well as his portable hard drive with all his music.  I also sent his netbook in this box.  I made sure that I purchased insurance for this box.

The last box contained all the sweet goodies that he loves.

Tomorrow I will bake some of his favorite homemade cookies.

once again...great idea Betsy!

I have sent off 3 boxes so far! I purchased a small dice game $3.99 (Left- Right -Center) a family favorite that if you play with quarters  instead of the 'plastic chips' included it becomes a money making fun game :) that, as many can play that want to! A hand held poker game that he loves. Beef Jerky, Slim Jims, Breakfast cinnamon struesel coffee cake bars, Instant Oatmeal, granola bars, microwave popcorn (his room has a microwave in it). His favorite Candy bars, chewing gum, chocolate covered raisins (his favorite)..Wheat Crackers and that bottled "Squeeze Cheese" another favorite! Some of his favorite DVD's; PS2 Game Console and games (two player). I ordered a gift card through the NEX that I designed myself and put a picture of our dogs on it so he could go and get the Laundry stuff or personal hygiene stuff of his choice at the NEX (.44 cents vs. costly heavy postage...cheaper than mailing that heavy stuff). Inspirational Book Marks for his "study books" Post It notes (for studying)...Yellow Highlighter...(again, studying)! Stamps.

My cousin sent 2 extra large bath towels ;)!

I wrapped everything again in Christmas wrapping paper...I am sure I got a "eye roll" on that!!

Cindy,

I love some of your ideas.  I will be stealing them, thanks.

Betsy

No problem Betsy!! Caramels are all done, and will be going out tomorrow :)!!

Cindy

That's awesome Cindy!.  I'm glad you got them to come out this time.

:o) You let me know if he actually likes them :o)!!

Thank you for all of the ideas! Since I am the cookie mom for my daughters girl scout troop might I suggest girl scout cookies :) I'll be mailing Z's as soon as ours come in :) The things that Z has asked for is breakfast items and a notebook. I also emailed him Redbox free night codes. I know that  Great Lakes has redboxes on post.

Nex gift card

Z said he had to buy shampoo, deodorant, soap, etc. already because he couldn't take it on the plane. He did buy pens, notecards for studing.  Hope this helps. :)

I asked H if she wanted me to send her anything and she said "no". She isn't really letting me be a mom.

Wendi,

I would still send her some of her favorite things and I bet she would be eternally grateful.  :)

Betsy

My son doesn't want me to send him anything either.
Wendy, IB said the same thing. I plan on ignoring him! LOL But he WAS excited about getting some little carrot cakes in the mail, you could try the cakes or pies for H. They are also REALLY cute!! So cute for the girls and delicious for the boys...a winner either way. :-)
