well that's good to know.  the guy at the post office here acted like there were state secrets in that box instead of socks and candy items.  I got the most important items on the list, and had to leave items off.

Man I wish those were the shirts my husband needed!!! He needs the actual military issued blue work teeshirt that you can only buy at the NEX and are $15 for a 3 pack :/  and Im sure he has!!! With the forms, I usually just do a broad overview...I might say snacks if there are 400 different kinds of snacks, shirts/socks (on same line) for clothes...Ive even left some stuff off before too...I think they just like to get a general idea at the post office of what it is thats in the box...doesnt have to be 100% exact

the t-shirts are the white rounded neck right??? I think those are the ones my son said he'd need to have.  Hopefully my son has gotten some mail/packages.  I'd hate to think he didn't get anything when they had mail call.  I've sent food, socks, movies, games, drink mixes, candy, etc. I do find the form to fill out a challange, you can put everything on the form cause there aren't enough lines to get everything in, what do you all do on this???

They have gotten some packages, but I just sent 3 out last week and my husband said that they havent pulled into port yet or a port that they get mail, or something to that extent...so they should get them soon??? And my husband said the same thing about socks and shirts...ive sent 2 packages of shirts (which is actually only 6 shirts) and no socks yet, because genius didnt tell me till AFTER I mailed everything that he needed socks.,,,so I night just sent those by themselves lol

When they were in one country my son said they could shower but not do laundry, so I suggested he see if he could shower with his clothes on, better semi clean body and clothes, than clean body in nasty stinky clothes.  I did ask if he wanted/needed anything specifically and he did say Febreeze....lol.  I've been trying to send atleast one box a month, and I've sent 10 pair of socks in each box, gotta check on the underwear/t-shirt needs.  I've not heard anyone mention anywhere if they have even started receiving packages/mail........anyone know anything on this???  As far as birthdays, I lucked out and my son's birthday is new years eve, so he wasn't with us, but atleast I was able to speak to him in fla.

Caroline,  I bet your right!  Maybe we should also send Febreze  fabric refresher in with there care packages.  It is just good to know that my son isn't the only one missing clothes.

Lori, I too want to thank you for starting this group.  While I don't contribute much, I do look forward to everyone's posts.  My son's not much of a talker and getting a conversation going with more than a  'yeah' and 'nah' on his part can be a challenge.  When he says he has no news, I'll think of something that I'd seen here and ask him about it.  That'll open up a whole deluge of conversation!  My warmest wishes for Josh's continued success as he begins the next chapter of his time w/the Navy!!

Lori, thank you for starting this group.  I have spoken to a lot of Navy Mom friends over the last year and some have great support groups and some have nothing.  It helps so much to be able to touch base and share with other Moms/wives/gf's/etc.  You did a great thing :)

Monica, when my son was preparing to leave, I had already read what everyone on here said about how the socks and underwear goes missing.  I told him about this, and asked him to let me know specifically what kind of tee's, etc he wanted, so I could send him care packages from time to time.  He's hard-headed and independent and  insisted he "had it covered" with dozens of everything.  Well....last week, he gave me all of those details because his stuff is missing too lol!  He hasn't offered any explanation for what happens to it but he has said that one of their water makers has been down for some time and that doing laundry has been a challenge.  I think some of this laundry is undergoing a burial at sea because they don't want to smell it anymore lol.

I know how everyone feels about the birthdays!  Colby was at boot camp last year on his birthday and this year deployed. :(      Has any body heard that clothing was disappearing or is it just my sons boxers.  He told his sister on facebook to please tell us to send him boxers!  He said they were just disappearing.  Before he left I got him at least 12 pair and then he already had some. Where are they going?   I sure hope he receives the boxers before he totally runs out!   I mailed 10 pairs but now I'm thinking I might need to mail 10 more pair next week.   He said he was good on the socks, but do you think I should send some of them also?

All the pictures are wonderful and yes Caroline I agree, Michalene is doing a wonderful job. I was beginning to wonder if they left my son behind. Lol. He is in very few pictures but the ones he is in, he never seems to be working. Lol. He turns 20 on June 3rd and this will also be my first birthday without him. I am sending him a care(birthday) package full of birthday kid stuff. I miss him everyday.
