I don't know any of the fellows in that picture but it really made me laugh too! I was envisioning the round-up myself lol. I hope Spencer has taken way more pictures than he's posted because it's looking pretty lean. I'm really grateful to Michalene for the pics she shares as well as what everyone else gives he to share for them. He turns 21 next month and this will be the first birthday we haven't spent together and I don't even know what I can do to make it special for him - ACROSS THE OCEAN hahaha. It helps to get glimpses him and his crewmates.
I bought my hubs a camera for Christmas, and he broke the dang thing...so he had to buy another one from the ship store...and for some reason hes REALLY good at not being photographed cus for the longest time I thought the ship had left him somewhere :P (I was reassured he was still alive and well in the Proof of Life photo! lol)
Well just to be sure he didn't have an excuse to not take photos, I sent one of mine with my son(that was a leap of faith there-his camera is somewhere between the Denver airport and Atlanta's airport) I've got baby books and scrap books but i've found it is easier and not much different in price to have some place like Snapfish, or even Walgreens do their Memory Books. I get to pick the photos, where and how they are placed, the themes, etc. and it's all point and click from the computer. And in a short time it shows up already done for me. Plus you can ususally get some pretty good coupon deals online and get more than one for the price of one. So, one for your sailor, one for you, one for grandparents, etc.
I have two sons and no daughters. It's moments like these that a daughter would be very handy lol. My baby book for my oldest son was up to date until the arrival of my second son at which time I totally stopped having time for those things! One of these days, I will finish them but there will be a whole lot of creative license involved ;)
I was thinking the other day that I need to download and print them. I bought a scrapbook when my son graduated bootcamp, and have a few things collected but have not even started it!!
Hi everyone! I haven't been on here in weeks and hate that I haven't gotten to know y'all better. Sorry, I didn't intend it that way but I took on more responsibility than I should have at church and then my job went berserk. Still is lol. I got a call from my son this morning and last Sunday too! I can't believe the luck and he's finally posting pics. He has had a lot of trouble getting enough of a signal and enough time off to post any so these are the very first. I've been so grateful to our Ombudsman for all of her work in posting/sharing pics and letting us know what's up. It sounds like it might be a stretch before they hit another port so I hope many of you got some news this week too.
Well I finally heard from my son after maybe 2 weeks. Of course it was only 1 line and I send him paragraphs with questions but of course does he answer them? No. His excuse "no internet" but then I can see him post comments on facebook and friend people. LOL. No internet huh? Good thing I love him :)
LOL Tracy! what did you expect "war and peace" length? lol I love that we can connect on here, so even when I don't hear from my son, and you do, I atleast know that all is okay! But since I only got three letters while he was at BC, I'm sort of used to not hearing from him all that much. When he was getting ready to leave he was asking everyone what they'd like him to bring back for them, and I told him to just bring stuff for his little sister, cause we live in a non-military area, and they are going places most people don't, so she'd be able to have some items that are pretty rare to see.
PatriciaT - there is a photo gallery with the article that has several more photos. Maybe one with your LO. I'm new to this - and you probably already know this - but I found this site about the Africa Partnership that has good pictures, too. http://www.c6f.navy.mil/apshome.html
I got a quick email from my son today. he's had some liberty cause he said he'd gotten some things for people back home, but the little turd wouldn't tell me what, said I'd have to wait, how can he do this to me! I have to assume he, and all aboard were ok.
