whatelks- Did your son say anything about going on a tour because my son was talking about it and named some other guys that went to and I think one may have been your son.  I asked him but he hasn't answered yet.  One time before I asked him if he knew your son and he said yes.   In my son's email he talked about the tour and said he had a great time.  He seems to like Spain also.

Must amend my last statement.  I got my phone call at 4:45 this morning.  I was not happy to be woken up, and even less happy when I didn't recognize the number, and even mumbled some not so nice words under my breath and then ignored the call.  Only to have the answering machine pick up the call and then hear my son, Ethan, say, "mom pick up the phone"  lol.  wow that's the fastest this old body has moved in years.  It was a short call, but atleast I got one, and he sounded so good, and said he loved Spain.

Ok, i've not gotten a phone call, and only get short emails.  I mean literally, short emails.  His email today, "hey mom"  lol.  So I torture him with great descriptions of all the good things he loves that we are eating, doing, etc.  lol.  teach him!  And i'm not even competing with a girlfriend, I don't think so anyway, last I heard I wasn't.

Tracy,  I don't think I'm high priority at this time either.  I'm betting my son has called his girlfriend but that's OK because he did send me a long email.  I'll take what I can get!  I did see a picture of him and maybe next time your son will be in one of the pictures.

hang in there navygirl!  I was prepared not to get my call today because things do tend to get goofed up, so it was a pleasant surprise when the call came as promised  You got the goof this time, next time it will probably be me :)

Wow, that's great news navywife!  I'm pretty impressed with the communication that I have gotten, considering how few computers they have but I know there will be a whole lot less frustration all around if they can use their personal computers.

glad to hear everyone is getting phone calls and chances to skype!!! To the wonderful ladies that onyl get the emails, those are just as great too!  I heard from the hubs tonight for a back and forth convo for about an hour....they are supposed to be getting wifi on the ship, but that wont be ready for awhile, so that should be able to help with more emails if your sons/spouses/sig others brought a computer or their phone :D

I got a call from Spencer today!!  He emailed me yesterday to say that he would call but couldn't say when.  I was so delighted because I knew that if he called while I was working that I could possibly miss the call and I'm working 12 hour shifts tomorrow and the next day.  He had duty while in Portugal and it was siesta when he was off duty and apparently Spain shuts down on Sundays so he hasn't seen much "going on" but he said he has downloaded lots of pics.  I still haven't seen them 'though...

Spacey, your son has extended a great friendship to my son, James.  While in Mayport, he graciously let me mail my son's passport to his house since we were having a bit of difficulty with the mail at that time.  Sounds like he's really taken him under his wing.  You raised a good man!  As to the "skype" with my son yesterday, Pam, that was thru our Gmail account.  It's like video chat. I don't know enough about it to go into detail.  All my teenagers are gone now and I have no one to explain these things to me!! LOL
