Lori, I got an email from early this morning and he said he thought he finally had his "sea legs". He's sounded upbeat each time and I think being busy really helps! 20+ swells? - yikes!! It really does help on this end, having other Moms to talk to - I know all about that "worry myself sick stuff" :) I put one son through college and that allowed me to wean both of us lol but this Navy stuff is tough!
I hear they're experiencing 20+ foot swells and have been busy drilling and staying current with training. My son was upbeat and happy to be busy. They did an underway replenishment that he said was very interesting to watch. He said I might be able to expect a phone call in about 1 1/2 weeks.
Thanks whatelks, I'm sure we'd all love to see it if he (ex) can figure it out. My son said it was pretty emotional, standing at the rail and watching all of the families waving goodbye. He says they've all been pretty busy and he hasn't kept a meal down since they left. He grew up on the water but says a big ship is a whole new kind of sea sick lol. I understand the email will start to get "spotty" but I'm really grateful for these first two notes, even if I have to wait a while to hear anything else. I miss my son too!!
I got an email last evening, it was great hearing from him, even if hes not been gone long.
Well I have to wait on the ex to get me the disk before I can put it up there. I'll see if he can get it up, and if he does I'll let you know the name so you can look it up.
Lori- Thanks for the link to the bracelets. I can't wait to order mine.
pam bailey- I miss my son also! This is my first time going through this too.
I sent an email but haven't heard from him. Usually he will email his girlfriend first, so maybe she will let me know if she hears from him. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
I sent out a test line by email, just to make sure it worked, and got a response already! Just a line too - they're pretty busy - but I feel soooo much better now lol. I understood that they had email but I didn't really think they would get access to it very often or that it would be functionable so soon. Wow, big change from when his Dad was in, 30+ years ago. I love to receive "real" letters but it's a slow process and my handwriting stinks hahaha. I can't wait to see if you post on youtube whatelks, I really wish I could have seen it.
If I can figure out how to do the video to youtube I will if I get the ok to do it. don't want to do anything I'm not suppose to do, compromise anything. I will be there when they come back.
