Hi Caroline,

That sounds good. I will book my room too this weekend. I don't think we will know what time until a week or two before they are scheduled to come in. What is your last name so I can look you up on Facebook?

I would love to take a BIG trip and retrace my roots. I found some things out when my mom passed away going thru her things about her family. It was very nice to find. I would love to be there when they come home, he will have some friends there and I had a banner made for him so they can welcome him home. As it turns out his leave changed so he will come straight home when they return. Looking forward to your video. Lol...we were all young and stupid once.

I'm jealous too Pam!  You have interesting heritage, you need to take a BIG trip and research this lol!  I will take my camera and record the ship coming in and post it ASAP for all who miss it.  I grew up in Portsmouth, VA and his Dad was in the Navy when we were first married but I never got to see a ship come in from a cruise.  When my ex-husband came back from his "Med Cruise", his friend arranged to deliver his car there so he could drive himself home where I was waiting.  He said it was a mob scene and he'd be able to get away faster and it would take us forever to find each other in the crowd.  I was young and stupid and did what I was told and never heard the end of it lol.

Caroline, I saw them. What a beautiful place. I am envious of the places these boys have been. Seems more like a Mediterranean cruise than a job. Lol. I would love to trace my roots. Greek on my dads side, norweigen/French canadian on my moms. I have been trying to work it out too to be there when he comes home, but he will have friends from high school to welcome him back and then we will be there a few days later. I can't wait to see him. I was looking forward to meeting all the other moms and wives.

Pam, Michalene just posted an awesome picture of where they were docked.  Those boys didn't even have to leave the ship to get a great shot and we didn't get it lol!  I would love to see Greece too but I imagine it would really be wonderful for you since those are your roots.  Mine are in Germany on one side and Scotland/England on the other.  I'd be happy to visit any of those places :)  I've been worried to death for months about missing the Homecoming because of the unpredictability of dates and some house-wide mandatory training at the hospital I work at.  Fortunately, it looks like it will work out.  We are both early at this 'though, so I imagine you will have more opportunities and the big thing is that you and whatelks get to see your sons!

Caroline...I hope he has better pictures than the ones he posted.  But then I look back at them and have to remember he is just 19.  No, I haven't been to Greece.  I would love to go.  My great grandparents are from Sparta.  I hate that I am going to miss Homecoming but we will be there the following friday.

Comment by whatelks67 on May 21, 2012 at 8:48am

As much as I hate it, I don't think I'm going to make the Homecoming :(!  A result of too much to do, too little time, and we've scheduled a reunion of our own at Disney World in Late Sept/Early Oct.  He's already looking forward to pictures with Princess while in Uniform.  lol.
