Patricia, it's actually a facebook page - U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. Sixth Fleet. The pictures that Michalene shares with us are often on there and sometimes a day or two sooner as well as maybe some more detail on what the 6th fleet is up to. It's been really interesting reading. My son prefers to call it "stalking" lol. It sounds like your trip down for homecoming will be fun as well!
Caroline, that's a great idea--what's the website?
I'm in NJ and we'll be jumping thru hoops to get there. Happily. We plan to drive and stop at Patriot's Point along the way to see the hubs' ship from when he was in the Navy that's now part of the museum. Very excited!
I think my son is probably using his internet time to contact his girlfriend lol, so I will have to wait for the pictures. Patricia, I stalk the 6th fleet site and Michalene's posts and hope to spot one because Spencer doesn't volunteer either. I haven't made a specific plan but I've requested about 10 days off from work, starting about 3 days before the targeted date and hoping for the best. His Dad's family lives there but I'm in NC, not sure how that is all going to work out and my funds are seriously limited, but I will see him and that's all that matters!! Pam, hopefully Josh will bring some good pictures home for you. Have you been to Greece yourself? What little I have seen in other posts is just beautiful!
At least you're getting *something.* My son had said when he sees a camera come out he goes the other way! Oh that boy of mine, lol! I'm happy for you Caroline and whatelks that you are at least getting some teasers! Has anyone made plans for homecoming yet?
My son has only posted a small handful of pictures during his entire cruise so far. He says he has taken hundreds of them and will share when he gets home. When they got to Greece, he posted a black and white pic of him in what might have been a lounge or something. I said "SCENERY! I WANT SCENERY!! Stand in front of something GREEK silly!" Several days later, I got a pic that was clearly taken on the base . . . He's driving me crazy lol!
Hey was on Facebook and found some photos of my son and some of his buddies spending some time around Greece. I've shared them on my page. I know Joshua Mauer was one of the guys there, and I believe there was a Dodson and Gonzales, too.(these are actually Gonzales' photos that have been shared)
Tracy, my vacation starts Friday night. No Hawaii for me, can't afford to go anywhere, but I'm SO looking forward to being away from work lol! Monica, it felt like Christmas for me too :)
Tracy- I wish I was going to Hawaii. Have a great time!
Caroline- I'm glad your son had a good birthday. My son also received mail and he said it felt like Christmas!
Everyone have a great day!
Hi Tracy. The group has gotten quiet. My son had his 21st birthday on Saturday and I had worried for so long that it would be a sad and uneventful one, especially since the mail was getting delayed longer and longer. It wasn't known if they would hit a liberty port and most of those have not been all that great, or he had duty. First off, he got a pile of mail two days before, and then, on his birthday, he got liberty and many of them went to a Jazz Festival! I gathered there was some celebrating going on too ;) An answer to prayers! How are things for everyone else?
