Hello everyone!!! It's finally official....my daughter is meeting up with the ship. How long does it take before they are assigned a email address. Any info that you all can give me to help me not drive myself crazy would be greatly appreciated!!!!
When mine left on the overnight flight, it took a couple of days before she was on the boat. Her email took about a week to get set up. She called me twice from the boat though that weekend. She'll have access to facebook until she gets on the ship while at the USO's in the airports. The ship emails don't seem to like attachments, though. I tried sending a pdf and it was refused.
Be careful on cell phones. International charges can be quite expensive. I made sure that int'l roaming was not turned on. The calling cards can be bought on the ship and the connection is quite good.
What's her rate? Maybe they'll be working together...lol! Mine's working in the hangar bay.
Jimbo her rate is MM....she loves to fix stuff so she will probably never see the top of that ship!!! LOL....I did her about her cell phone so I hope she call AT@T to let them know to turn that feature off. How does your daughter like life on the aircraft carrier?
She's been having a blast. She is an undesignated airman and still doing her "quals". When I talked to her the other day (I emailed her and said I needed a phone call...and she called!) she was sad. There were some big waves and she wanted to play in the ocean...lol!
Jimbo she just called me!!!! I will be answering my cell phone all times of the day and night!!!! They have been flying since midnight!!! She sounded very tired but excited to be in another country!!!
My son left for the ship on 4/17. I'd love to send a care package but never got an address to send it to. If anyone has an idea of how to send care packages, could you friend me and send me a message? No need to post it here. Thanks! I look forward to being in touch.
I'll message you some info :)
Hi Susan: You need to know your sailor's dept/div and then you can send mail/packages. I send a package every two weeks. The large priority box at the PO is the best and there are special military rates. Look on the Abe Lincoln web site for the address. Hope this helps. Sandie
Only a couple days...my daugher got there last week she had email within 2 days. I sent her a care package because she immediately asked for stuff from home.
jlynnobrien what is your daughters rate? It took my packages 3 weeks to get to my daughter. How are you holding up??
