For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome CyndiH! I have to tell you that when my son was in bootcamp, our mom's group helped me soooooo much! Do you guys remember getting the box of clothes? O.M.G.....And then the change in our sons? Seeing my son after his graduation from bootcamp was like the first time I saw him after giving birth.

Hugs to all moms today...God knows I could use one today. People that don't have kids in the military just cannot grasp what we go through missing our kids.....I am fortunate enough to have four sons ,and I just cannot even imagine having my one and only baby out there! Extra love going out to those moms! Try and have a beautiful day....I will picture the USS SAN ANTONIO covered with the white light of the holy spirit, with TOTAL PROTECTION!!!!!!!

Hi CyndiH, welcome to the group! Lots of great support here.
Teresa - lucky you to get a package. That is so awesome and thoughtful and cool.
As far as cranking goes, my son did 3 months as an E4. He's now an E5. He's a CTT and works directly below the bridge.
I know I've been kinda absent from this page and I will be again until September. I"ll be taking care of my aunt again so my parents can have a break. Nothing. To. Do. There. No internet. Daughter(18) and niece(19) are going to die a slow death with that one. lol They're going with me. hahaha Have a great August everyone and I'll be back in September!!!

CIC is the bridge... I think. It stands for Combat Information Center. O.S. stands for Operational Specialist, which runs the radars and figures the firing solutions and the Navigation of the ship. Being in I.T. i'm sure my son knows yours. My son is also interested in I.T. and it's what he wants to do when he starts college next year. My nephew is also an I.T. in the Navy as well. He really likes it.

Teresa, my son flew over beginning of May. He is Navy IT. He hasn't had crank duty as far as I know. He loves his job. Cogratulations on your daughters wedding. It may be our sons are working near each other. I do not know cic of ship?

Hi Cyndi,, yes; our son graduated A school last year and this is his first deployment. He spent the first six weeks doing crank duty. Which; they tell me all sailors have to go through who are enlisted as an E-3 or below. Crank duty is working in the galley. But his rate is OS and that is what he is doing now in the CIC of the ship but he is still learning and he tells us he will be attending more schools once the ship returns to base.We have our son who is 19 and then a daughter who is 21 and about to get married.You mentioned your son flew into Bahrain? Is he a Marine or a pilot for one of their helicopters they have on the ship?
