Oh, and hi Helen... it's been a while since I've seen you on. Yeah... I unfortunately I think your right. It's going to be a while until we hear from our sailors. I'm going to write mine a snail mail and put it in the mail today. I keep hoping he will write one back. Nothing like snail mail...... he actually touched it LOL.
I'm worried also, but from what I'm hearing from a friend of the family who is high up Admiral Greenert sent the ships there to use as an example and a reason for more deployed ships around the world and to use it as a request for an increase in the Navy's budget. From what I understand Egypt is just a handy tool to use and nothing more. I hope so and hope our friend was right. Hopefully they are just there so that the Navy can say, "see, here's a crisis and this is why we need more money so we can respond to these type of incidents.
If you look up ( where is the USS SAN ANTONIO?) You will see what the military put out to the presses.
lol Reba...we do all love the song that birdie is singing! :-)
That's awesome news!! Nick should have received a few too, hopefully next to come is an email from him!
I got word it was christmas on ship today, packages seemed to have caught up with them! he mentioned his shipmates swarmed his packages to see what he got.My grandmother baked 4 dozen his favorite cookies and lightly vac sealed them. He said they made ir perfectly and put in another order! I guess his LPO was shocked with all of his stuff and asked him what grocery store he robbed.
Thanks for the update Jessica!!
The last phone call from Augusto was on Fathers day and its really good to know they are OK! His birthday was July 3rd and I send packages and letters in early June so I hope he received something. If not he will receive all of them at the same time! I have been emailing everyday and none of the messages have bounce back so lets hope he has been receiving them.
Thanks everyone for the update. I know we all miss our Sailors!
Thanks for the insight, Jessica! You're so lucky you got a call, Nick hates using the phones on the ship due to the delay so I don't expect any calls in the future, but I can't wait for the the email to be back up and running.
