teresa, my son cranked and he's and E-4.  He only had to do 3 months though.

My son did get four packages at once.  He loved it!  Toys in one box was a big hit!  I save the comics from the Sunday paper and put them in the bottom of the box.  Car magazines and things to read.  I've already mailed two more.

@ Denise ~ I know right?  Real......

Linda, sounds like it's possible. I will Email you our son's name and the next time you talk to him you can ask him.

Denise, our son is an O.S. (radar on the ship) but had to do three months of crank duty in the kitchen first. From what we've been told all sailors E-3 or under have to do that. His doesn't end until June. Was your son in ROTC or did he get a college degree before he joined?

I wonder if they know one another, I can't think of the name of the building Nick was in when he transferred over to the other side of the base.  I think it was actually Dec. 29th that Nicholas had to be in Norfolk too.  His PIR was the day before Thanksgiving.

Lol Helen, you did send a few, that would be funny if he got them all at once. It would be like Christmas.

Denise, I'm going to sound behind the times but could you tell me what "G chatting" is? So far the only way we have been able to communicate with our son is either through snail mail or Email.

He went in straight out of high school this past August. He graduated A school in December then reported to Norfolk (I think Dec 29th.) Wow, so your son was in boot camp with ours. Timmy's A school barracks was the USS Farragut, across from the Macdonalds and football field.

I think Nick may have received several boxes at once, which is why he may be overloaded with snacks at this point.  They took a few weeks to get to him though.

Teresa -- how long has your son been in the Navy?  My son has been in about 7 and a half months now.  PIR'ed in November, reported to the San Antonio Dec. 30, had the underway shortly after, and now is deployed...it all happened so quickly!

Comment by teresa on May 15, 2013 at 11:50am

Denise, that's great. I hope our son decides to stick it out and become an officer one day. So far he likes it and can't wait until his first year is up so he can start college courses.
