Helen, that wreath is beautiful, i'll have to get started on one. This is our son's first deployment so all of this stuff and what we're supposed to be doing is new to us. We got an Email from him yesterday, he got our care package! We had put a rubber snake in it. He loved it! Haha, he said he could make good use of it. He also said he sent us a package of souvieniers that he had gotten in Greece, we should get it any day now. I can't wait!
My son told me to hold off on sending him anymore snacks, he's running out of room to store them. I think I might have gone a little overboard with the care packages... lol
Yeah, I know. I need to work on the door. That's next on the list of things to do...hahaha Even my son pointed that out. One thing at a time.
Happy Mothers Day to all. thank you so very much for your support and service of your child/children. Hope that everyone hears from their sailors today =)
I was hoping we would hear something from our son since everyone said they had hit a port but so far we haven't heard anything the last few days but maybe we will soon.
Hi Welder Mom, glad to see another mom. Our son is an O.S. but is currently doing his Crank Duty in the Galley. The things that were big hits in his care packages were snacks of various types... just don't send things that heat and time might harm such as chocolates or fresh vegetables. And travel size games such as chess and battleship. Also five hour energies, and believe it or not a rubber snake lol. Like GoldnG8r said, it takes about three weeks but it all depends on when the next mail shipment they send out is. I think it depends on if there is room on the re supply shipments etc. I don't know about the others but we always fill out a customs form just to be safe but i'm not sure you need it.
Talked to my son as he still has his cell phone we did not suspend his service yet. will do that later. he sounds a lot better. says he is tired which i am sure after all the time zone changes. asked him how it was and he responded with "hot" oh what a response. =)
ATF stands for advanced technical field and he basically added 2 years to his first enlistment.
