Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome Welder Mom ~ I'm glad your son made it safely to the ship. GoldnG8r has lots of great tips. :)
I have been fortunate to be able to receive emails from my son on a pretty regular basis (even had a couple of email conversations). The last time I heard his voice was when he said goodbye on the dock. That's okay though. I'll take what I can get. So happy for the moms that get the phone calls.
Send a package yesterday and will be sending another one tomorrow.
Glad to see a few more moms on the site!

my son just met the ship today ahead of schedule. glad to know that he is there and safe. hooked up with the offical page as well as face book. cant wait for the email address so we can keep in touch. thanks to GoldnG8r for some tips.
glad to hear some Mom's got calls. it is so nice to hear their voices. that is the part that I miss most and will be the toughest as we talked atleast every other day.

Well, Augusto is on duty today driving the bus from the base to town and back and he says it seems like a very nice place with everyone being respectful to them. He guesses they are used to the base people. But that is very hot and sometimes driving they only see sand. Yesterday they even had a sandstorm!

Isn't it great? I didn't get a call, but I'm hoping to at some point while they're on base. Even chatting with him online was great though. Nick said they were getting ready to go out, but were staying on the base because they didn't dare venture into the city. :-)

I just receive a phone call from my son! They are at port, finally and they have access to the base and a town. They are so happy to be able to go to shore. He says he sign up for some activities or excursions the ship offered.
Hearing him is the best Mothers Day present I could get!

Yes they are ashore! I chatted with my son earlier today by instant message, he was using a computer at the NEX. Apparently his laptop is broken, I'm hoping he finds a place on base that can pack it up and send it home for him so I can have it fixed.

Good afternoon....I also got a call today, but it sounds like they are ashore somewhere.....glad to hear that....they need a break. I have been real fortunate that my son has been emailing often....we have even had some actual conversations through email.

just joining as my son is leaving to join this ship. it is his first deployment. i loved this site when he was in boot camp. it kept me going. going to be a bit tough as he has a 4-1/2 month old daughter. already waiting for the address so i can start sending care packages. it will give us something to do

Thanks, I don't think he did Linda. They just weren't happy with him because he was the cause of their group not being ready on time. I told him to think of something to make it up to them and hopfully next time he won't be in such an out of the way place when they call drill. I hate it though, he is the one who always kicks himself hardest when something is his fault in a team setting. He did say that when he gets back to Norfolk he will be going to several O.S. schools including SAR. He will be the person that plots a course based on wind, currents, time etc in order to find someone when they fall overboard and he was excited about that. He has been wanting to do something that helps other people.
