Hi Astrid...welcome! What does your son do on the ship?

What is a deployment wreath and what it is for?

Do you send to your sailor?

Hi,

My name is Astrid and my son Augusto is aboard the USS San Antonio too. This will be his first deployment, so I am kind of new to everything that is happening in the NAVY. I have sent him several packages with lots of goodies and t-shirts, sweets and magazines, but he has not received any of them yet.

I did not know they could make phone calls from the ship. Are they assigned or it can be anytime they have free time?

We traveled to Great Lakes for the boot camp graduation, but were not able to go for the deployment. Does anyone know when we'll know the arrival date?

Thanks for all the wonderful postings, even I dont know any of you, you all make me feel connected !

Just got a call from my son!  Not one single box in that entire delivery was one of his...what a bummer! He called from the ship, said they wouldn't be on land for another few weeks.  Not a great connection from those phones on the ship, but it was great to hear from him.

Denise, yeah, I know.  I need to get it done.  I'm the queen of procrastination.  It will get done tomorrow since I have nothing to do, that I know of.  I will post a "finished" photo.  lol

I hope Tanner gets the one I sent a month ago.  He really needs a pick me up about now.

keeping my fingers crossed that one or two of the boxes I sent to Nicholas might have finally arrived today!

I wish the San Antonio was as good as the Kearsarge and the Carter Hall at posting pictures and updates.  Seems like there is always pictures from those two ships to look at on Facebook, not much from the S.A.

I've sent several care pages (like 8) and he's only received two so far. I averaged sending about one a week since the week he left, I haven't sent any since the first week of this month, I'm wating for them all to catch up with him.  As of last weekend he received the second one.
