This is Nick's first deployment too, he's been in the Navy for just over six months.  Nicholas downloaded some app on his cell phone that allows him to make calls using wifi, he can't pick up a cell phone signal from where they are.  He says as they were pulling into port the place looked like a fairytale..snow capped mountains and all. :-)

Hi Linda, from what our son told us once they are in port and the ship is at anchor and the Captain calls ....I think he said all secure or something like that then they can then tell erveryone where they are since anyone in that port would know anyway so i'm pretty sure you can say that now since they let them off. I hope our son call us. This is his first year and first deployment so we were all sort of unsure how to call from a foreign country. He has a pre paid cell phone. I tried to get him to get a contract phone before he left but he said he liked that one and would get one once he got back. I hope they let our son off as well or he will really be disappointed. But this is his first year and also he's currently doing his crank duty in the galley and working nights and not doing his regular O.S. job yet.

Got a call from my son this morning, he's loving life right now.  Says he's enjoying everything about the deployment so far.  He said the trip over was like being on an all day roller coaster ride because of the rough seas.  He's not on duty today so he's enjoying Greece and everything about it.  I can say that right, since they're actually at port somewhere and not out at sea??

Thanks Reba.  He was so sleepy.  My kids are so used to me and my cameras that if I don't have one with me, they get on me.  Go figure.  It's just a hobby.  I love sharing the pictures I take.  Band, orchestra, drill team and, of course, LOTS of soccer.  Not only do I scrapbook but I make photo books.  They are a BIG hit!  Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone!!

Okay ladies, I went through my pictures and cropped to get a closer view.  Hope this helps some of you.  Oh, here's my son.  We were watching the sun rise from the bridge.
