How exciting Helen! Mine will be home Thursday morning. I'd like to reschedule his flight so he's home tomorrow evening instead. Do you know if they're free to leave as soon as they arrive back in Norfolk?

Welcome Jacquehdz!  My son is currently aboard the S.A., he's fairly new, having only reported there on Dec. 31.  I just recently (within the last two weeks) started receiving information from the Ombudsmen, that helps a great deal, as do the ladies on this site...although there aren't many of us!

thanks for the welcome Helen and GoldnG8r.

@jacquehdz, welcome to the site!  I don't think he's going to know anything unti he gets to the ship and then it can still be confusing.  Hang in there!

thank you for answering,  not sure on details I heard by next month, but I also heard they are deploying soon.  Not sure what to make out of it.  I was just wondering when we could go visit.

How many are we here with sailors currently aboard?

Comment by Linda73164 on February 15, 2013 at 12:10pm

I was just emailing with the Ombudsman, she told me that the sailors are allowed off the ship the days prior to deployment as long as they're not on duty.

I'm planning on going to the deployment, I'm not sure if I'll be able to see my son, but I feel like I need to be there.  Hopefully we can at least find out around what time they're leaving so we can watch.

Congrats!  I saw his name on the list sent out by the Ombuds.
