My son said he got five packages today, I mailed them all out over the course of the last month.  Maybe your son got his today too?

Hi! I sent my son a package and supposedly, it was delivered to VA on Friday. He said he has NOT received it yet. If he gets deployed, how does that mail get forwarded to him? One item in the package is pretty important. What can I do?

I have to go to VA anyway to get his car and stuff.  He wants to show us around VA and all that.  He doesn't want to leave anything there, storage unit or otherwise.  You won't know it's gone until you get back.  He's heard horror stories.  I get to drive his car while he's gone.  I'm really looking forward to that!  He has his dates to come home, so we'll celebrate his birthday early with the family.  He's working on his esws pin and had his first class boards this morning.  I keep looking for the email to tell me how he did.  He was super excited and nervous at the same time.

We're going down to see them leave also.  Nicholas gave me the dates to make his flight arrangements already, so he's all set -- as long as the dates don't change for some unknown reason (I purchased the insurance on it just in case).  I wish I could stock him up on stuff while he's here!  Maybe I can bring it with me since we're going down to Virginia early.

Linda, my son told me he's hitting Walmart and GNC before they leave.  Hopefully, they've gotten more food on board.  I haven't heard from him in a couple of days.  Trying to get info to book his flight home and back.  I plan on being there to send him off.  I have to drive his car back.

I actually just received another email from him, he said they're still getting "baby portions" and will definitely be bringing an emergency snack stash with him on deployment.  I sent out a couple care packages right before they went underway but he says he hasn't received them yet.  I guess its still kind of early for him to get them, but I checked with the Ombudsman and she said they'll be getting mail deliveries while they're underway, if not, they'll be waiting for him back on base I guess.

My son said the same thing Helen -- the ship is (or was) running low on food and the portions were really small, he said he had to subdue his hunger by hitting up the vending machines! lol  I'm hoping this wasn't poor planning, that its all part of the exercise??  He did say he was really enjoying the underway, learning lots of new stuff.  Seas were rough for a while, ten foot waves -- but he also said that was great!  Can you tell this is his first underway?? lol

I got an email from my son today.  He made me laugh.  Here's part of it..."I'm still here and we're running out of food.  NOOOOOOO!!! So hungry. For breakfast I had ONE pancake, ONE hash brown that someone else gave him.  TWO hard boiled eggs and TWO pieces of bacon.  I will starve on deployment.  The food lines are unreasonably long and we get no food at the end."  My oldest daughter is getting married this Sunday.  He writes....."I wish I was there.  We are in heavy seas right now and everyone's walking around like they're drunk.  lol

It's good to hear he's enjoying this underway.  Some new faces in his division and he's really happy about it.  He said deployment is going to be great!

Well, off to do MORE wedding stuff.  Everyone have a great Super Bowl Sunday!!

Does anyone know how long it usually takes before sailors are issued a ship e-mail address?
