Hi!  My son is finally on a ship and it's the San Antonio!  He's been there three weeks and loves it!  He's so glad to be away from Pensacola and doing what he's been training to do for over a year.

Hello there:  I am new to this sight.  My son will report for his assignment to the San Antonio in a few weeks.  Can you tell me are  the Sailors allowed to have a car on the Norfolk Navy base and if so, are there any requirements he needs in order to do so?  He is thinking of buying a car while on leave.  Thanks so much!

I was wondering if it is possible to get a pass to get on base prior to a visit, and without tami being with me, since the crew of the San Antonio will be otherwise occupied :)

Linda, thank you for the welcome. To answer your question, no we will not be together on the "traditional " Christmas. Tami has leave starting the 29th. So we have decided to move the date to the 30th. One thing we have learned is to be flexible :) As it worked out our youngest daughter does Tech support and was told she would be working the 24th, 25th as well as the 31st, and 1st, BUT they would allow her to pick two days to be off. So it all worked out.!!!! we don't know how many chances like this we'll have, so we'll take them as they come.

Hi all! My daughter was recently assigned to the San Antonio! I'm embarrassed to admit I really don't remember the date. It was Wait, Wait, Wait for a release date from GL them BAM!!!! Come get me at the airport, I have 10 days. We were lucky enough to drive her to the ship and get a tour!! It's been at least a month. She's an Emfn still going through Indoc, just waiting to be able to do her "job".
