For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Cell phones in Great Lakes A School?
My husband sent me a letter that said "DO NOT bring my cell phone! I'll explain later." When I got a call from him yesterday, he said bring it but he still wasn't sure if he could have it or not. I read somewhere that phones aren't allowed at GL due to security issues, but I've also read forums of people saying they enjoy being able to text their sailors while they're there in A school (since they weren't able to communicate during BC). I was thinking of getting him an iPad to replace his phone so that we could face time and email, but does anyone know if he can in fact have his cell there? Thanks!!

My husband just graduated from great lakes and was allowed to bring his cellphone with him back to his barracks after pir. They can have their cell phones everywhere except when they are in school. They can also have laptops/ipads. I broigjt my husband hia phone to pir and he was able to call and tell me when to pick him up over at a-scjool. This was in march.

He can have his cell phone at Great Lakes, but he can't have it at the school itself, or while he is on duty. He can use it while he is on liberty, in the barracks, basically, during his free time. He definitely is not allowed to use it in uniform while walking around! So he'd lock it up when he can't use it, and his calls/texts will revolve around his schedule.

@ KXkel15 They are allowed to have their cell phones during A school you just have to wait until he transfer over. Meaning when PIR is over those that are staying for A school at Great Lakes won't be able to go on liberty right away because they have to move out of their bootcamp ships which will take a few hours. You will be able to spend some time with them after but the sooner they check in the sooner their liberty starts. The good thing is you will be able to see him the whole weekend no overnights though. Also keep your gate pass fromm PIR this will allow you drive on base afterwards and you csn drop your Sailor off at his Ship instead of the gate.
