For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I just had some of this conversation with my SR. They start earning while in BC and it is 2.5 days. And yes the leave will come out of their earned days. Liberty time does not come out of earned days. If they took weekend leave while in A school that is liberty, it isn't took from their earned time, nor is MWR time. But if they took time at Thanksgiving and Christmas it come out of their earned time. Remember the plus side is they are allowed to borrow time, but their borrowed time has to be approved to get it, and they don't always get it, especially if they already borrowed to much time already.

MWR means Morale, Welfare and Recreation basically it a a quality-of-life program that directly supports readiness by providing a variety of community, Soldier, and Family support programs, activities, and services. Included are social, fitness, recreational,educational, and other programs and activities that enhance community life, foster Soldier and unit readiness, promote mental and physical fitness, and generally provide a working and living environment that attracts and retains quality Soldiers.
Here's an example that might make better since to you! My SR didn't get to come home for Thanksgiving leave, so what they did for that group of people is they gave them a MWR trip.They took them to New York so those sailor got to see Macy's Thanksgiving day parade in person. They put them on a bus early that morning and got to spend the day there hanging out and just doing what ever they wanted.
