Well you class up to take ATT (no idea what it stands for, its something all the sailors take) then you wait some more and class up for AWAT (another prereq the guys take) some rates then wait again to take the class for their specific job *AE, AT, etc" they call this STRAND class.(again i have no idea why lol) Right now for AE There is no wait btwn AWAT and Strand.

We dont know our orders yet, he just classed up and started ATT today after about 6weeks. Info comes from all the other AE's he talks to on base, and then ive talked to the AE who lives under us that is getting his orders next week =)

Brittany- So what does straight into STRAND mean? So he will know his orders once he classes up?

So exciting he is getting to class up!

Brittany-So do already know where you guys are going to be stationed at?

That is great doing it that way, it will get them prepared to where they are going to be living...My sailor was in schools and just waiting to be in classes for a whole year before he finally started his job.

Actually thats changed - atleast for now all the AE's are currently getting their orders the first week of AWAT... and its completely random. The last few classes have drawn numbers to decided order while in ATT, then are told what they got in AWAT. and right now AWAT is going straight into STRAND.

Hubby was hoping they were still doing it by high grades get first choice! Maybe hell get lucky and his class will.

P.S he got to Pcola may 1st and got a phone call 2hrs ago saying he classed up for ATT and starts tomorrow morning..

Z's-Thats exactly right. Some go to C School and some don't. I think it is according to what they are assigned to work on. You pretty much don't know until the very end of A-School. The do have a DREAM sheet, where they get a chance to pick where they want to go...The higher grade you get=first pick. Of course thats at the end of A-school to..

So just sit tight and wait. I know thats hard to do, but thats all you can do until the very end of A-school. Good Luck

Okay so when AE's finish A school some go to C School and then some don't? Is this right? I feel like I'm way confused on the schools.  My boyfriend arrived a few weeks ago and I know there is a wait I was just wondering when they find out about if they will go on to C school or not? Just curious.  Thanks! I'm new to all this like Ive said before! Thanks for all your comments!

Debra - funny thing is, a lot of the guys go out and buy tvs for their barrack.. but they arent allowed to take it with them on the flight when they leave Aschool to go to their Cschool / first station.... Soooo in the two weeks Ive been down here with hubby we've bought a 20in flat screen for 60 for my sons room and a 32in flat screen for our bedroom for 100.. cuz they are tryin to get rid of them before they leave!
