My sailor finally graduated yesterday from A school. He is now a AE. WA-HOOOO. Because of him being Navy FTS., he hasn't received any orders yet. So i'm keeping my fingers crossed for orders really soon.

hello ladies! I have a quick question, how long has it taken your sailors to receive their orders as an AE after A School?

Thanks Pat my sailor is getting married in October, but they wanted to live together for 6 months first. i want them to be sure this is what they want to do. They have had a long distance relationship for 2 1/2 years.

CharityGFofaSailor-
here is what I found about TAR -hope it helps.
Training and Administration of Reserves (TAR) Program
This special program is open to qualified Navy veterans to serve on full‑time active duty to manage, train and administer Naval Reserve personnel in accordance with policies prescribed by the Chief of Naval Operations.

TAR assignments for officers and enlisted personnel are at air squadrons, shore activities or aboard Navy Reserve Force ships homeported in the United States. Also at shore‑based naval air stations, NavayReservists are responsible for the safety of the most advanced Navy jet aircraft

You have to be an E-4 or married before you can move off base? isn't that right?

Bobby Ray: sounds good to me. I guess FTS is something new. My fiancee said he will be at a duty station for 3 years but he wont know where he is going until he gets his orders for his location until just before he graduates.

Julie-Thank You for letting me know that. It does help to hear about other AE's and what they are doing, I couldn't find any AEs for the longest time and then I got referred to this site.

CharityGFofaSailor - I am having the hardest time learning anything about anything. Nobody seems to know. Rus(my son) is in AE class right now and he grads. in Jan. 16th. As far as we can find out, there is no dream list of orders they get to choose from, Rus is the only 1 in his class that is FTS, he did say every1 else gets to pick 3 places they want to go but not him, he goes where ever Navy Reserves need him. This has been really hard because nobody seems to know about this program.
I will let you know, when anything for him changes or if I happen to learn anything..Will you please do the same for me, then maybe we can start a new group for FTS people.
