Hi Martha,
Anthony is right behind Justin, he started Thursday (his PIR was the week after Justin's). He is also very happy to be doing something, even though the ATT course probably wouldn't be his activity of choice. Anthony hated the downtime also. It annoyed him that they couldn't even go to the workout facilities and get some exercise on most days. I expect Anthony will probably not take the 8 weeks to complete the course. When did they tell Justin he was going to be an AT? As I said, several weeks before PIR, they told Anthony they need AE's more right now so that is what he probably will be. I am happy to hear you will have your son home for the 2 weeks. Anthony will be home on the 19th also and he is going back on the 2nd. We can't wait to see him.

Christy,
Anthony is still in GL, his PIR was 11/21, he did the indoc thing and was told he would start the ATT course this week. I thought he said Monday, but he called me that day and he hadn't started yet. He did do all his requirements for phase 2, so he plans to live it up and go to Chicago with some of his mates this weekend (if they get to phase 2 by the end of the week). He won't be in Florida until he has completed the ATT.
Have you heard any news about Jared coming home for Christmas yet?

Wow Becky,
That is a lot of money!! I can't believe he had to pay that much! Anthony was starting his first day with the ATT class, and I am waiting for a call to hear how it went.

Christy,
Can't he take some time off during the 2 weeks of the Christmas holiday? I am sorry to hear how sad you are, I can't blame you I would be very depressed if I didn't get to see my son for the holidays. Anthony will be taking more time then he has earned, but they can do that and make it up later.

Becky,
FYI: I read on the internet that American Airlines is offering military discounts on their flights through 2008. They have done this for awhile and generally extend the offer each year. You have to contact them via phone at 1-800-433-7300 (no internet access) I checked this out for Anthony, however, he had already booked his flight on American. He just did that earlier this week and it was only $190.00 - fortunately, since he is still in GL, it is not too long a flight. Anthony said he is paying for his flight also, I didn't offer to pay since I probably paid at least that much on his food for the weekend after PIR ;-)

Hi Becky,
Yes, but from what I read here it doesn't seem to be etched in stone. One mom said they told them what they would be after a month into A school. Anthony doesn't seem to be too upset about it at this point, but plans to try AT if it is offered. Does Nathan know when his schooling will start? Did he find out about going home for Christmas yet?

Martha and Alan,
It is interesting to see J is going to be an AT. Actually that is exactly what my son wanted to do. Aviation, AT, AO, but they told him they need AE's more right now so that is what he probably will be. If your contract is for Aviation you are either AE or AT. His PIR was 11/21. Has J started the ATT course yet? I am wondering at what point they told him he would be an AT. I keep reading different stories about when they decide if they are AE or AT. Any information would be appreciated. I will be getting Anthony for 2 weeks also, I can't wait!!

Hi,
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.
Hi Becky,
Great to hear that Nathan finished the ATT course, way to go. I bet he will be glad to be in the sunshine.
Hey Cari,
Glad to hear Eric made it to Pensacola, I wish him well with Aircrew.
Gio,
My son Anthony's PIR was 11/21 and he is currently on hold at GL waiting for the ATT course. He is in the older building. He is loving being out of boot
camp, and being in a room with just 2 other sailors! He spent 4 hours on Thanksgiving working out with one of his division mates, he is in heaven. He told me he wouldn't start the ATT for a couple of weeks, then there is the holiday from 12/19 to 1/4, so he doesn't think much will happen then. After that he could be on hold for the ATT. So things won't be moving too fast.

Martha,
From what I have been told (actually by Becky Mister - she has been very helpful, my son is an AV also, his PIR is 11/21) after boot camp AV's take an ATT course at Great Lakes. It takes approximately 2 months to complete (its a electronics computer course) and then he would go to Pensacola for A school. Either AT or AE. My son was told they need AE's more now, so there is a good chance he would be an AE. He also may be considered a "Grad & Go", but after PIR he will just move to a new location at the same base and may get the entire weekend off. Hope that helps.
