Cac12: My son graduated from boot camp Oct 2013.  Left for P'cola the day after.  Waited for basic to start for 2-1/2-3 months.  AWAT and ATT went pretty quick.  Graduated A school in May, home for a couple weeks then was off to San Diego for C-school and shore duty for 2 years!

Cac12:
My son left Basic mid August last year for P'cola. He waited about a month to class up. The AWAt and ATt classes seemed to be short and he flowed from one to next pretty quickly. He finished A school mid December, was home for 10 days (went way too fast!), then headed to C school in Virginia.

Hi All - New to the group - My New Sailor reported from BC to Pensacola this weekend !  He now says he's been selected for AE Rating.  I'm trying to get myself acclimated to about how long he'll be there.  His orders were written to start AE-1 on 13 Jul.  As far as I can find so far he'll need to attend a Basic Electronics Course first then begin his AE A Schooling.  Earlier in this blog I also see references to ATT and AWAT ...  What are they and how long do they last?

@G, my sailor will be joining the Dragon Whales when his leave is over in a week or so. Any insights / info I can share with him? He hasn't been able to find much online.

Hi G! My son did C school in CA. He lived on base, I think in barracks, and the school was held in a classroom, on base too, but he got deployed as soon as he was finished so I don't think he's gotten to apply what he learned yet as far as electronics goes.

Hi G! My Sailor son just finished C School in Norfolk/Oceana. He was living in a dormtype room. I think he had some watch but not as much. A lot of cleaning. Do You know what squadron he will be attached to or what ship? Mine is a Jolly Roger...aargh!

Thanks Outi :) Including boot camp and A school, he has been in 2 years and still not started in his career field, so I've been quiet, but am starting to wonder what's up. After being RPOC, Honor Grad, & 2nd in class at A school, this is such a giant slow down. Anyway, I'll just trust the process as what you said about being newest in the shop agrees with what he said. However, this did effect his Eval because he has been unable to get quals like everyone else. That part doesn't seem right as that effects advancement doesn't it?

LALs.......sometimes squadron needs "donate"someone for other duties....usually the newest and lowest ranking.....but eventually he will get to his real training. He is Navy's now can't fight that...

Every other AE we know went to C school right after A school and then on to their squadron. My son went to his squadron and then got gate duty for 6 months. His buddies are finishing quals like Captain and Wings and my son can't even start those because he has no AE experience by doing police work at the front gate. I think he has been forgotten. I asked him if he made someone mad?

And I forgot to mention that eventually they all end up going to C school....depending when their squadrons end up sending them
