Laura, My son graduated "A" School May 22 and had  9 days before he needed to be in Oceana Virginia. He is there now and will start "C" school July 28th. I think it's 50 days of training but I might be confused with that because as you know their terms are harder to understand for us civilians. Our son will be in China Lake Calif. when he's done with "C" school doing experimental work with VX Vampire Squadron. He is really excited.... I however think he's to far from home (MO)!

He just discovered snowboarding last weekend and is ready but a snowboard now. Being brought up in AL, he's not seen or experienced snow or snow sports. He's loving it! I'll mention the biking to him also. Seems to be so much to do on their leave time there. That's a good thing.

No problem! For the last 4 years we have been in that area. One of the main reasons we joined was in hopes to get away from the air quality, cause we didn't want our kids to grow up in it. Aside from that, it's a great place. I liked Visalia, and Leemore the most compared to Bakersfield and Fresno, but Bakersfield an Fresno have a lot more to do just cause they are bigger cities. Forgot to mention there's some mountain biking trails around the area too. Some in three rivers, and some of the best trails in Ca in Kern county somewhere(Bakersfield). Most of why is there is cross country and down hill stuff. Pretty fun though too!

Thanks MXNavyWife110 for the info about what surrounds LeMoore. I will pass this on to my son. He's been there about 7 weeks now (seems much longer) and has visited Yosemite, LA and Chinapeake? on his leave weekends. He plans to save up for a car but since he'll be deployed (first time) in August to the Persian Gulf for 10 mos he's decided to wait until he returns for that. He said they will get 2 weeks leave before they ship out. Do you know if it is a designated time or can they take that at any time of their choosing?

SamsMySailor my husband and I use to live near there. Our first born was born in Fresno, just north of Lemore. It's not the most amazing place to live, but there is some stuff to do. I would recommend he gets a car so he can get around to the bigger city's and drive up to the national park that I up by Fresno. There are some local motocross tracks around as well. Lemore is a small town just outside of Visalia where there is a mall, in and out and some other things to do/see. Then you have Fresno, north by 45 mins, and Bakersfield south by about the same. Those are the bigger city's where he can go to concerts or what not on the weekends.

Hi all, my son just graduated A school in Pensacola, FL on Jan 15. Now he is in LeMoore, CA doing grunt work while waiting for his assigned squadron to return in mid-Feb from an ?inland detachment?. Anyway, he is supposed to be there for 2yrs and all I have heard (not from him), is what a boring place it is there and how they hate it there. :(  Does anyone else have a sailor stationed there?

Hello! My son is a 2nd class Petty Officer AE deployed currently on the Truman. He will be gone until next April. I mailed his first package on October 26th and he still hasn't received it. Any ideas anyone??

Hi There! My sailor is an AE and did his A school in Pensacola.  He had to wait about 6 weeks before the school started.  They keep them busy doing cleaning and lots of other Navy stuff.  They will probably get bored but they will be fine.  My sailor is in Japan now and enjoying being out in the fleet.  Patience is the key and they will learn about it now.

Hi everyone!  My son leaves for boot camp on Feb 18, 2014 and then will go to Pensacola for A School for AE. From what I'm seeing here, they don't start school upon arrival in FL?  I have found out recently too that we will see him at PIR and then he will leave for Pensacola a few hours later - we will only spend a few hours w/ him at Great Lakes.  His date seemed so far off but now that the holidays are here it is going to fly by!

My son graduated basic November 1. And told us yesterday that he heard he would be out of AE A School in March, however he hasn't started yet! He doesn't know if they are back logged or waiting for more AE students
