Renee-sorry it has taken me so long to respond.....he likes it o.k., but not as well as San Antonio.  He says it's kind of boring and not much to do.  He said the MALL there has mostly "expensive" stores--definitely out of his budget, but I think he likes the base pretty well.  He is always playing basketball...not sure if it's just guys getting together, or some kind of league.  He just got off crutches from hurting his ankle in a basketball game...lol...How was graduation?  I guess David has arrived in Pensacola by now.  Tony decided to pass on picking orders a couple of weeks ago since there was nothing really standing out that he wanted to do, so he will pick in March right before graduation.  Hopefully there will be something then that he likes better.  My daughter and I are planning to go to the graduation on March 21 (the day keeps changing though...will be glad when it is finally set, so I can confirm travel arrangements).    It is only an 8 hour drive from here, much shorter than our drive to Great Lakes for boot camp graduation!!  Well I hope everything is going well with David and you too!!

Jana - how does your son like Pensacola, now that he's been there awhile?  Does he like his classes?  David graduates from A school this coming Wednesday, and we're heading out to see him.  We're pretty excited, but a little crazy right now just getting everything ready (pets, kids, etc.) - it's all good!!

Renee-he told me last night that he got a new roommate and it was the one he wanted, so that's good.  I kept asking him when he was in A school if he needed flash cards, coloring book, study aids, but he kept telling me are you kidding, this stuff is so easy.  I guess he did o.k.  He wasn't an honor graduate, but almost made it.  As far as I know he is not using any study aids in C school, but I'll ask him if others are using any and see what they are.  Tony left a lot of stuff here when he left for Pensacola, clothes, a 32 inch tv, etc. My house has hardly any storage, so I've got to get out soon and put all that stuff in the storage room I rented when I moved into this house.  I think he enjoyed the game, but said they couldn't find Bourbon Street.  I'm thinking that's probably a good thing...lol....

Jana - I guess there's some moving around, just like in A school, and it does seem as if each branch likes to keep their people together!  Is your son using any additional study aids, or did he have an anatomy workbook/flash cards from A school?

We'll be bringing a bunch of stuff home from San Antonio after David graduates, so it will be easy to add or replace his study materials!  Hope the game was fun - David said they went to a hockey game in Austin with some girls... Don't know what to think about that, but it is good to know they get out and have fun!  I can't imagine how much fun it will be for him to turn 21 during Spring Break season in FL!!!!

Renee-he says there are 31 people in his class. He is currently on the way to New Orleans for the basketball game and discovered someone on the bus that worked with him at the grocery store that he worked at before he joined the Navy.  How cool is that?   He lost his roommate this week because he was a Marine and they moved him somewhere else, but he seems to be enjoying his school, and will hopefully get a new roommate soon.   He made a 95 on his first test last week.  I am very proud of him!

Jana - good to hear your son's doing well!  I don't envy them the bus ride to NO, though, but the game should be fun!  I read somewhere online that the classes for AVT are pretty small (less than 40 students) is that true?

Seems like this group is pretty quiet - we'll just have to find some more members!

Hi Renee...he is doing good.  He finally got a roommate although he says it's temporary because his roommate is a Marine. He is enjoying having him as his roomate as he would like to go FMTB one day and is getting some information from him.   He started school Thursday and seems to like it pretty good. He is excited because he is going to get to go to a NBA game in New Orleans on the 21st.  He says the base has season tickets and they are taking a bus.
