Hello Ladies!! I haven't been very active in the group, since I am new and also been very busy. My son arrived in Bahrain about a month ago. He sent me some pictures too!!! I think he took the same tour that Sierra'smom daughter took!! I think they arrived about the same time. They went together to MA school. He is already settled and he calls almost everyday. He tells me that he is fine and learning a lot. He also said that he wants to learn the language. I dont doubt it, since he is very good at it. He already speaks 2 languages and a little of portuguese. He likes the food!!! Well, I have to see that!!! I am very proud of him.
After reading that everyone had a camel farm pic, I bugged my sailor and he sent his! Got to Skype this weekend. He is also a "man of few words" but tolerated all my questions! He's enjoying it there.
I visited in January and stayed with my daughter. Her flat is a 5 min walk to the base. I traveled on a comercial air line and got my visa upon arrival. We did the basic tour arranged by the base - causeway, camel farm, museum, mosque and fort. We also took a taxi to the Tree of Life. Make sure you get a taxi recommendation from the base. The cab drivers are well known for overcharging. Manama is a very interesting city and I'm glad I got the chance to see it. Erin%20%26%20Marion%20at%20Tree%20of%20Life.jpg
Thank you Lady Hamilton! What a great picture...did you visit as a private citizen and fly commercial air or through the Navy? Did you stay in a hotel or with your son or daughter? It seems like this will be a time to embrace the experience and visit a place that probably wouldn't have been on our vacation destination list!
Ditto. My son has shared some activities he has done, but no pictures. Thank you for sharing. You always have a mental image of what it looks like, but the pictures are much better. Thank you.
