Yes, my son makes very good living. I do believe though when there is a Death in your family, that should take a higher importance then a Officer going to Italy. Just my own thoughts and opinion. Paying for the ticket to get to the funeral was fine, just wanted to make sure he was there to say goodbye. We learned a lesson and don't even try and get a ride. He buys his ticket and all is good!!
Thanks, for the information. I really appreciated As for my son!! Unfortunately he is another victim of the economy!! Has a degree, student loans, etc. But he loves his country!! It is sad, that a lot of our sons and daughters are not appreciated enough by their nation!! After the sacrifice for country!! It bothers me!! Looking at so many people sitting down waiting for their checks to arrive in the mail. My son, my father, bother, grandfather, had serve in the military!!
Thank you Lady Hamilton. They don't pay income tax on the money they earn in Bahrain. My daughter's housing is taken care of and she's saving as much as possible. On her last leave, she paid for her own travel so she had control over the where and when. I'm proud of her.
Yes unfortunately this is true. My son has been there for 29 months. He has come home on leave twice. He has had to pay for both trips. Very expensive. When his Grandfather who was military died, I called he Red Cross went through all the channels they had him reserved on a Transporter. Two days before he was to leave he was bumped off for a Officer who was meeting his wife in Italy. So he had to buy a last minute ticket home. Very disappointing in the way this was handled.
My son is station in Bahrain for 24 mths!! He said that he will be able to get vacations after a year. But he told me that he has to pay his way back home if he wants to come home for vacations. That is sooo unfair... Is not the same to all, If they are station in the US, I can understand, but overseas!! Is a killer. They don't make a lot of money. I was wondering if such info, that my son told me is correct? Please advise, if somebody knows... I am sad...
