My son is having a hard time sleeping at night!! He arrived in Bahrain Wednesday.. I'm sure its just the time difference! Has anyone else's Sailor gone thru the can't sleep stage?
doenglish I know a friend who went thru that with their son too. They are very close and he didn't say anything at first but she knew something was wrong!! He finally opened up to her! I guess the way to deal with it is to let them know you are there for them....to listen/shoulder to lean on! He may not want to do anything and that's ok! Let him do what he wants....remember he is used to being told what to do. He will adjust just like he did when he joined the Navy! Hugs to you! <3
wow, this forum is really rocking with newbies, hello to everyone!! I hear Bahrain is a pretty good place, I was talking on one of the other sites and a woman who grew up there said that it's a nice place, expensive, and pretty modern than most middle east countries. My son has been there since January, he uses Skype, cell phone, and facebook, so it's really nice to be able to hear from him. Although, since the break up with his gf, he has not talked to anyone very much and tries to stay busy, which is not hard to do. He is currently on a minesweeping ship, so sometimes they go underway and communication is minimal because they are busy. Nice to see everyone on here, welcome, and I look forward to conversing with you all!
Your sailor can get a cab company recommendation from MWR and just call when they need to go somewhere. The Cabbies outside the base are OK, but make sure the meter is showing at all times (some of them cover it) and you have exact change
Lady Hamilton, I see you posted a picture. How close/far is that from the base? Was it easy getting around? Do they have public transportation? Sorry for the barage of questions, I'm just so clueless about the place. Thanks.
