While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Everyone! I just have a few questions! My fiance is about to graduate boot camp and he will be an MU. I am just curious about life as a navy musician. For instance, what can I expect in terms of him traveling? I know they will be traveling a lot doing various performances but what kind of time frame can I expect to be without him? Are they usually gone for a few days, weeks, months? I appreciate your help!

What does your fiance do? The time he's away will largely depend on what group he gets put into after A school. The rock band here will sometimes be on tour up to a month. The rest of the groups are usually not gone more than 2 or 3 days.

It will really depend on what band he is with. My daughter is in the 7th Fleet Band in Japan. A few times a year she is gone 6-8 weeks at a time. Otherwise it maybe a weekend here or there or festivals around the area and Change of Commands. I think the 7th Fleet Band is one that travels the most though. The stateside bands usually stay within a 5-6 state area and they aren't gone as long. Each band usually has smaller groups too, so the whole band may not go on a tour but a smaller group will. My daughter loves her job so hopefully your fiance will as well. Is he a vocalist or a musician, if so what does he play?

That's fantastic! That is a big relief! It's never fun to be away from your other half! He'll be at A school in Virginia in the next week and a half or so. He plays Base Trombone. I'm not sure if he would be in more of a jazz type group or rock. He's pretty open to anything. We also don't know where he will be stationed either. As long as its somewhere warm I'm okay with it haha! I'm sure he will absolutely love it, he's been playing trombone since he could walk practically! I'm happy for him!

Hi Kelly,
Yes, it depends on where and what ensemble your fiance is assigned. My son is a trumpet player with the Navy Band Northeast in Rhode Island. Most of their gigs are close enough to drive to and back on the same day however occassionally they need to stay in overnight accomodations for a night or two.
During Fleet Week the band was in New York City performing daily gigs in and around the city. Some of the spouses and significant others spent several days in the city with them.
