Our son came home Thurs. on leave for a few days after A school graduation. He will return to California-has orders for San Diego.

Yes Ethan got his orders. He wanted to come back to Oklahoma at Tinker AFB so he could be closer to his baby daughter but there weren't any openings. He is going to San Diego and work on the big helicopters. He is very excited about it. We had visited the base out there when he was a JR in high school. I'm excited because everywhere I checked for flight prices, San Diego was the cheapest. So I will just have to save my pennies and once every few months go visit and take his baby to him. I am on way way to Pensacola to see him. I should get there this afternoon. I am so excited!!! Yes it's true about the better grades. They give them a list of orders and you can pick from that list. If where you want to go isn't on the list then you just have to find another.

Hi Baptist Moms,
How is everyone doing? How are your sailors? Kim, Did Ethan get his orders? Did he get his 1st choice? Chrissy said if they get good grades they get to choose where they will go next. ~ Vicky

Please pray for Ethan, they pick their orders tomorrow and he is at the top of his class. Pray that he will be where God wants him to be. God bless our Navy men and women and their families.

I was on Skype with both of my children tonight. We helped daughter with her project for school and chatted. That is a great tool and it is free. Anyway, one of the things son mentioned is that his orders have been straightened out. He is going to a nice place, not one of the places that he thought, but it was a place he has wanted to go to, so it will be interesting to see how God continues to work His will in my sailor's life. Thank you for your prayers on his behalf.

Katy, something that helps me to remember to pray is to look for triggers. For example, when a coworker had breast cancer and was on chemo and losing her hair, several of us decided together to pray for her each time we combed or brushed our hair. When her hair came back in, it was thicker and curlier than it had been before chemo. I always wondered if it had anything to do with our prayers for her as we fixed our hair. When my aunt had a skin problem (actually, a flesh eating bacteria), I prayed for her each time I put on lotion. When I see a deer or sometimes other things, like the mountains and rivers, I thank God for his wonderful creations. When I pass a classroom door first thing in the morning, I quickly pray for the teacher and the students who will be entering that door. When I walk up or down stairs, I thank the Lord that I can (a year ago, I wasn't able to do it very well due to shattering a bone in my leg); and I pray for a friend who has a degenerative disease and isn't always able to walk well . While on my trip, each time I pulled into a rest stop, I would thank the Lord for His provision of safety and for those who were praying for me. It goes on and on and has been a great way for me to have an ongoing conversation with my Lord throughout the day so that I seldom get to the end of the day without checking in with the Lord and if I am tired at the end of the day, I can rest after saying little more than "good night Lord".

My pastor mentioned doing this a few weeks ago and it was great to be able to share with him by email that this was something that I have been doing for a while. I don't remember if he said it or if another person I spoke to said it, but someone would "reflect" on the blessings God had given to them each time they looked in a mirror. I'm sure there are some things in your life, no matter how busy it gets, that will lead you to turn your thoughts to God.

Thank you all for the prayers on my behalf. I am home safe. I got in at 1:40 a.m. I made an almost 2400 mile trip in two days on my own--would not recommend that to anyone. I did it in 2 days rather than 3 because I hit snow in Montana and I really did not want to drive in 4-6 inches of snow. God watched over me and I could feel prayer on my behalf as I avoided skidding into a minivan in Wyoming at one point after stopping to sleep. The mom of my daughter’s host family just called me by accident (that’s a God thing) and told me how happy they are to have her… It has really been a God thing how it all worked out for my daughter to be with this family.

Son says that the Chief is still looking into the problem with his orders. I will have to check his MySpace to see what is going on with him--if he has updated it--because with his girlfriend there, he hasn't called or emailed. I hope that he is enjoying his time with her--just not too much.

Thanks for the continued prayers and prayers are going out on your behalf as well. Blessings to you.

Update: Son didn't say anything to his sister or me when we "talked" on MSN messenger today about his orders, so I don't know anything there. He did tell his sister that he will not be proposing while his girlfriend is there; he says they are too young for that (both are 20)--I'm glad that I was reading too much into a comment he made recently. My daughter and I have been having a great time exploring and spending time together and with my brother and his family. She starts school tomorrow and then I will head home Wednesday or Thursday. Blessings to all.
