While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son left on Monday of this week (3/12). I got his box today. With most of the stationery and pens I sent with him and no shoes! What's with that? There was a half empty water bottle in there. He must have trashed them? I guess he got to keep his watch and Bible. I'm super happy about the Bible.
When I got the box, I cried all over again. Such a sad transition!

don't be sad....he keeps his shoes until he is able to get new ones issued.....they give them official navy stationary so all the recruits are the same, just part of the transition to navy life.....you should be happy about the water bottle, it means he kept hydrated until the very end!!! You should get your form letter very soon, mine came two days after I got the box! then you can send all the letters you have written to him....he will likely get them the 2nd or 3rd sunday he is there.

I always like to think it's more bittersweet than sad. You're proud of the man he's becoming but sad to see your baby go. My son's shoes came back in his box. Yours could have trashed or donated them. Just depended on what kind of shape they were in. They are pretty much rushed through processing so tons of stuff either gets trashed or sent home in the box. As for the pants being rolled up - they roll them (sometimes only one side) to measure their feet for their boots - then they are rushed out of them and into the box they go. Hang in there - you will see the form letter in 1-2 weeks and then everything is set by "first" milestones - first letter, first call... Then it's PIR time! Good luck - enjoy the ride.
