My son left for boot camp on 11-14-11 and it was much sadder than I thought....I self diagnosed myself with "Maternal Separation Anxiety" LOL.  I received the "I'm here" call and that helped a little but these feelings were unexpected and I am still trying to adjust to my only son being away.  Are there any mom's with sailors who left on 11-14-11?

I just got the text that Sam is all sworn in and waiting for the flight.  It was super painful hugging him at the recruiters office and driving away.  He doesn't officially fly out until today but it felt like yesterday!  I do still have a really tall 14 year old at home to distract me so I can't imagine the house being empty.

Hey Rachael...
I have two daughters home....18 and 11...so not an empty house...but he is the only boy and my oldest
so it was just harder than I imagined it would be...my 11 yr old cheers me up so its a process.
My son left yesterday also. I got a call around 230a saying he had made it there and he was ok...can't wait to get his address.
I know.....
Already ready to write my letters!

My son just text me a few minutes ago, that he arrived at Ohare airport! 11/15/11. I can't imagine going a day without hearing his voice, I love him soo much and already miss him and he's only been gone 5 hours!! I can't wait to get the call and get ready for PIR!

I completely understand how you feel....its just something about a mother/son bond.
And hearing his voice made me feel better when he called.

I wonder if he had dinner with my daughter and her group she said the lines were so long everywhere so they all ate Chicago dogs for dinner .

My Daughter left today also.  I got a text about an hours ago that she landed.  I did not think it was going to be as hard as it is.  I am so proud of her, yet I can not stop crying.  She is my youngest and I guess I was just not ready for this.  Her original leave date was April but her recruiter called three weeks ago and said they had an earlier date.  I was shocked and really have not had timne to process this.  Good luck to all our Sons and Daughters.

Got the call last night about 9:15... He sounded ok, gave us the scripted speech, and said he loved us.  I actually feel so much better today!  I've spent the last 4 months tracking his whereabouts with friends, making him check in so I know where he is sleeping.  Now I know exactly where he is for the next 9 weeks.  I actually wore makeup today since I'm optomistic that I won't cry too much.

That is so funny because I was doing the same thing with Anjelica . I was so worried she was going to get a ticket or get in to some kind of trouble  just before she went to boot camp. I couldn't sleep at night. I know she wanted to have fun before she went to boot camp but boy was it hard. Now I can sleep at night knowing she is at boot camp .

My son flew out yesterday Nov 15th - got a call last night about 10 - he made it safely.  I have to start adjusting my cooking - cooked too much supper tonight - have to get used to just me and my husband!   I'm doin good now - but the holidays will be hard.

OMG....the holidays...my son bday is 12-8
And it will hard but we will all get through it together with the help of this site....it has been an enormous help for me.
