I got a letter today, wooo hoooo

That is awesome! Can't wait to get one myself! I think it will help once we can write. How is it for you?

When did your SR leave?
My son shipped out on July 30. Out of Houston

I guess you are like me then....anxious to hear any news and can't wait for that letter to get here. All we can do at this point is miss them like crazy! Keep in touch. My daughter shipped out of St. Louis

One of the Navy's favorite mottos: Hurry up and Wait!!!

I am learning this

My son shipped on Tuesday July 30th also out of St Louis. I have been looking through this sight for months, but I just joined. Saying goodbye was the hardest part. Hoping and praying that everything is going well for him. He is my only child and things seem so weird here at home without him coming and going all the time!

One of the hardest parts for me too. I keep waiting for her to walk through the house.

My son left July 30th as well from Columbia, SC.  I texted him most of the day because his flight didn't leave until 6pm.  He called me once he was in Chicago, then after that I didn't hear anything from him unti 2am the following morning.  He called to let me know he was calling in 3 weeks, and then that was it.  I miss my son, but I know he's alright.  Now the waiting.....

I got her box today so you should get his soon if not today. Can't wait to get the letter so I can start sending her letters! We are all waiting together so at least we are not alone in this even though it feels like it sometimes

My daughter shipped July 31st - so they're probably in the same group!
She texted me from the USO and a brief call at 6pm then I got the official call at about 1am! So now we wait!
ILoveMySailor53 - we live in Houston - my daughter didn't leave from here though 'cos we've recently moved here so we flew her back to leave from our old home town.
DannaProud have you connected with Cathymg? Her son left St. Louis on the same day as your daughter!
Yesterday was tough I kept thinking that I know they didn't get any sleep until that evening - but I felt better last night knowing that she would've at least slept in a rack and probably got a few hours!
I also was overcome with the fact that her hair has been cut and I can't see it - I guess some people get upset about the laundry but mine is her hair!! Did your daughter have hers cut before she left?? I know - crazy - I'm obsessed!!!!!
