Claire - The PIR group for Oct 11, 2019 has not been created yet, but on the BC Mom main comment page Ana was looking for someone with that PIR and Div 379. You may friend each other and as soon as Ellen0502 is able to create the 10/11 PIR group she or Phoenixmom will post the links to click on and join.

As for flying out of GL  - I would direct you to my discussion in BC Moms - What PIR weekend may be like for those flying out of GLhttps://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms/forum/topics/what-p...

Liberty weekend is generally the same for any sailor flying out of GL no matter what their rating is. There are always exceptions and I share some of those but there is information in my discussion and also on this page that Lemonelephant created. PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/liberty-during...

Be sure to go to the main page on BC Mom and read through all of the information above the discussion and comments, as well as the pages to the right of the screen. If you are viewing this on your phone it may be helpful to put it in desktop mode so you can scroll around the screen better.

After you have read this information, if you have further questions be sure to ask. You may reply to your discussion and others will answer if I am not available to.

Claire - Generally the sailors who are flying out of GL will leave RTC very very early (after midnight sometime) from RTC and be bused to the airport where their flight is out of. Even if they do not have a flight until later on Saturday, they will be taken to the airport very early and in my discussion BelovedbyHIm just posted information as to when you would need to consider being where at the different airports to meet your sailors. Occasionally, they will have a Sunday flight but not always. And sometimes they are held in THU (Temporary Holding Unit) for various reasons. If they are in THU, they will have the same liberty privileges as those who are staying in GL.

Plan your weekend so that you can be as flexible as possible for any scenario, and also expect to get very little sleep PIR weekend!!

Thank you ...  yes I read all the info .... but there was some confusion for me when  it said

"On 2/8/19 the Navy instituted a change to better assist the families on Graduation weekend. This change is currently in the test phase and can be revoked anytime if sailors abuse the program. Traditionally, sailors needed to be signed out/in on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Friday, February 8th, 2019 sailors were GRANTED WEEKEND LIBERTY WITH THEIR FAMILIES until Sunday evening if a responsible adult signed them out. There was no need to return the sailor on Friday night or sign them OUT/IN ON Saturday and Sunday"

i just don't know how up to date all this info is and who this pertains to :)

I do have another question. My son will be a reservist, and I have heard that it can be different for reservists ... that if A school does not start immediately, then he may be shipped home until school is ready to start ( presumably so that he does not have to get paid as active duty while waiting for school ) Do you have any experience with this or is there anywhere you can direct me to that may help answer this?

Can we find out the dates when the specific A schools start?

Ha ha! am thinking ahead, as a photographer who mainly works weekends and books months in advance. I obviously don't want to miss A school graduation. As retired military spouse you'd think that I would be used to the big unknown and everything is subject to change. Lol!

Claire - I believe the weekend liberty only applies to families with sailors that are staying in GL as they move out of their ships at RTC and go to their A school BEQ's. Those flying out of GL to A school are required to report back to their Ship at RTC after Liberty on Friday night. That time will vary for my son he had to be back by 7:30 pm, others it was later, but on time is late as I am sure you are familiar with.

As for reservist, I don't know. You might send a PM to Lemonelephant,  the admin for BC Moms group, she may be able to direct you. If you can't send her a private email message, put a comment on her profile page and she will get back with you when she is able.

As for dates of A school starting, I don't think they will know that till they report? Not sure for a reservist though.
