Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

He arrived at BC on st patty's day (the 17th).  Can't believe it has been over a week since he left.  Hope he is settling into his new routine.  It will be good for him.  He was going to school full time and working 30+ hours a week.  He would get off work at 10 and then come home to start homework.  He would eat around 12:30-1 for his midnight snack.  He had an awful schedule.

Oh My, Leesa....your boy had it together and some drive!! bootcamp should be easy for him!! I'M hoping boot camp puts that drive INTO my son!!! lol

Oh wow! Yeah that sounds like a rough scehdule . Well at least now he can get himself settled and he will have a promising career with the navy. That was the same with my husband which is there now. He had to quit school and work since he could pay for school and then join the navy for both of our futures!

I know there are a lot of videos on youtube and blogs out there in addition to what the Navy tells us is happening over these 7-8 weeks but is anyone else just wondering what their child is doing hour to hour and how they are coping?

I believe in my son, I know he wanted this and wanted the change.  I also feel like there will be days when he second guesses himself and I hate that I can't be there to encourage him and remind him what he felt when he swore in or when he told his dad and I his plans. I can't wait to see him in May so I can tell him again how proud I am.

My son arrived on 3/17, got the box on 3/19 and got the letter 3/23. He's in Ship 03, Div 175. I've written or sent a card everyday! Miss him terribly but am so excited he's chosen this road. He's a future Nuke. I've NEVER gone this long without talking to a child of mine. I'm attached to my cell phone hoping he will earn a call home. Hope you are coping well, LunchLady!

Some days good, some days not so good.  I have always dealt with stress very well, but lately I seem to feel overwhelmed.  Just got my letter from him today.  Ship 14 Div 177.  Can't wait to hear from him.  Afraid he won't be the same when I talk to him.  His writing in the letter is different.  Very neat, not his normal chicken scratch.  I know this is what he wanted, and I know the Navy will be good for him all around.  Just miss him like crazy.  I still have two children at home.  One in college and one in high school.  Hard, since he is the first to leave.  And he will be so far from home.  Always.  Guessing nice vacations to visit him are in our future.

does anyone know if all nuke recruits are put into the same div at bootcamp?

Divisions are made up of recruits from a variety of ratings and fields. See Ship/Division--How it Works.

My SR left on 3/16, now almost 2 weeks. I got the box on Friday and the Form yesterday. Excited for PIR!! Can't wait to see her again!! Congratulations Mommies out there and blessing on to our children.

So far only those with a recruit in the 05/08/2015 TG have received form letters. I expect that some with a recruit in the 05/15/2015 TG will be receiving the form letter today or tomorrow.
