Hi
My son just left for Boot camp this past Wednesday, my question is , his birthday is the end of this month are they able to get any deliveries of cupcakes or cake/pie or a gift?

Our daughter, who graduated from Basic Training in June, said that any "public" acknowledgement of birthdays led to orders for the same number of pushups as the # of the birthday--i.e. kid turning 21 = 21 pushups.

No...dont send any food. Your SR will get extra pushups for sure. A small card is great!
Patty227, No they can't have any care packages or treats. You don't want to send anything to bring attention. My son just graduated yesterday 8/4, he had a birthday while there as well. He said someone received homemade cookies and the RDC threw them away and all the guys had to do push-ups. Nothing glittery on cards, just plain simple birthday wishes.

Welcome to bootcamp Patty227!  PLEASE DO NOT send food, glitter, singing cards, musical cards, colorful confetti, or newsprint! Your son cannot get any care packages or bulky anything.  Send him a letter telling him how much you love him and are supporting him, but nothing else in case the RDC's see it!! You do not want to do or send anything that may draw attention to your SR. I have heard of the SR getting extra PT but I have also heard of the Division getting the Extra PT while the SR has to watch-- Torture for these kids!!  Plan to celebrate when you see him at PIR!

This made me laugh.....Do not ever don't send food. They will pay for it for sure, and not in a good way! :) Wait until graduation and go get some goodies !

Thank you all for the information , wasn't sure so I felt better safe than sorry

NO!! Send a card and lots of words of love.  They aren't allowed any care packages, unless it's like things for blisters.  Do not send anything like treats.  They won't be allowed to eat it and they can get extra push ups.  Send lots of letters. Pictures are allowed.  You could do a something at home and take a picture early so they get it near their birthday.  It takes about a week to a week and a half for them to get it.

Hi Patty227:

My son left for boot camp on July 17 and his birthday was on July 24.  It was very hard not being able to talk to him on his special day, and we didn't have an address for him yet.  I did sit down and wrote him a long letter telling him how special he was to me and how glad I was that he was my son!  As many have already posted, DO NOT send him anything that will draw attention to his birthday, or he and his division will have to "pay" for it.  My husband went out and bought him a silly, musical birthday card and we are taking it with us when we see him at graduation September 15th.

My son is on standby for ATT training. His birthday is august 18th. Have no idea what to get him. He has his laptop and iPhone but is pretty bored. The only thing he said he did today was food shopping!
