Boot camp is such an emotional time! We lived by the mantra "no news is good news". You should check out the group here for your SR's (sailor recruit) PIR (Pass-In-Review) date if you know it. Not sure how long your SR has been gone, but you should expect a letter a few weeks after he arrived and only one or two phone calls after that. They are VERY busy every day. We only got one letter the whole time our sailor was there. You can follow Recruit Training Command on Facebook. They post pictures and sometimes have live feeds. You can also follow Naval Station Great Lakes on Facebook. There is a ton of information on this site and so many great moms to support you. They got me through it! Just remember you aren't alone and the "Navy Moms" are here for you! And it's ok to cry once in awhile! Good luck to you and your SR!
Welcome AJ's Mom.
Your friend was right to send you here. If you are active on FB you can join the PIR Pages there as well as the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command (the official BC Page) They DO NOT take requests so don't be that mom!! It is actually illegal to take pictures of activities on a military instillation of their exercises, so no one is randomly taking pictures unless they want to visit with the Men in Black Suits!! (ps. I heard the same rumor when my sailor was in 5.5 years ago!!) His PIR group will be listed on FB as PIR MM-DD-YR. You will have to ask to join and you should check your "Other" folder in Messages.
There could be a load of messages you haven't received.
Read the files and feel free to ask any and all questions. We are here to help! We haven't lost a Mom to Bootcamp yet! We won't start with you! Oh and Keep your PHONE Charged, Close and with the ringer on LOUD! You may get a call this week!!
Thanksgiving they will have a nice meal and Sunday Routine. Not all the Recruits will call on Thursday (there are just too many of them!!) but they will likely get to call sometime this week!
No News is Good News (It stinks but it is!) You got this Momma!!
