I was wondering if any other family members have SR's who arrived on this date. Also, I would love to know how to start planning a trip to graduation , which I was given est of July 5th (a very expensive week to attempt travel). I'm still just overwhelmed with how fast this happened and I miss my son very much. Please anyone with a son/daughter who left May 6th please add me as a friend as I do not know this site as well as others. Also, if you would just like to help me with all the terms and what a meet sarge is and where to stay I am crying my eyes out because I feel so uninformed. Also can you post pictures of your SR on this page and should I change my name? I need help. Thanks to anyone willing to respond. Also after I post things, how do I go find my original post without having to scroll down a whole list of things. I'm sorry to be a bother..

Bless your heart dear! It will be ok. Once you get a PIR date (that's graduation) the wonderful veteran's on this site will help you get connected with other mom's who have the same date as yours. The Sarge's meet and greet is a wonderful opportunity for you to get to know some of the moms that you will be talking to on here, the night before PIR (graduation). Sarge will also give you a lot of useful information at the meet and greet. Do not book any rooms until you get your date in writing from your SR. If you need to book a flight, make sure you can make changes to it because sometimes things come up that are unexpected.ie, injuries, illnesses, not passing tests, that could potentially hold your SR back from graduating. But do not stress on that right now. You should be receiving a box with your child's stuff in it and shortly after that you should receive the form letter with his address and PIR date on it. Start writing from now and hang on to them until you get an address. Do not make yor envelopes too thick, or put anything on the outside of them that will draw unwanted attention to your SR. CO's do read this site so you do not want to give his name or say too much if you speak to him and he tell s you stuff. You will learn as you go along. Let me kow if you need anything else. I can also, if you'd like friend you on Facebook. Message me and I'll give you that information as well. :) Hang on dear, you're in for the ride of your life!! <3

That information can change depending on if he's on hold or not. My son's info changed from his form letter. I was worried he was not getting my letters, but he still did get them, but it took us a while to figure out that his ship number had changed. Wait for the form letter before you send any mail. That's just a suggestion, but I would wait to make sure. :)

Makes me want to cry...our sons are together..Please let me know what and how you are going to do it!

or any info you might have. Please

My daughter left on May 7th and I have been reading all the posts on this website for days.  I especially loved the video of Boot Camp.  It was comforting to see where she is eating, sleeping, and training.  The posts about PIR are already printed and in my file. I would suggest scrolling through the many pages on here, it has helped me feel connected.

So far from the recruiter, she is listed as DIV 247 SHIP 12.

We will all get through this together, just like our sons and daughters.

My son left on May 7th. I feel your pain.

Good morning!  Once you have received the form letter from your SR you can join the group for that PIR date. There will be lots of help there with everything and other "moms" who have SR in the same training group. I would recommend changing your user name as last names should not be posted, and no pictures of your SR.

I have sent you a friend request to give you some hints on this site that will make navigation here a little easier.

Hang in there, things will go faster than you think, and there are hundreds here that are going through the same thing. You will be fine I promise.

Big Hug smiley face

yes. my son left may 6 as well! I am working off a phone but will friends request or accept when I am in my home computer. :-)
Hi. My son left on may 8th and I am feeling the same way, lost. It has been an emotional roller coaster. He was selected into the 900 division. I too have received his address from the recruiter and now thinking I should wait for the official letter before sending him mail. This site has been very helpful and more at ease with what's going on. Graduation dates would be nice to have to plan for. And what does being in the 900 division mean after Bootcamp?

We are up to Division 933 now and those arriving this week could be in Division 934, so your SR may be in a 900 division, but not Division 900 (there is never a Division 900, the first 900 division of the Navy year is Division 901). Please do not send any letters until you have the form letter. (See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.) If when the form letter arrives, you find that you do indeed have a recruit in a 900 division, check out 800 and 900 Divisions.

My son also left on May 8th... I got the box today.  Still awaiting the letter!  I feel your pain!

Yes, you should change your Username and the URL to your profile page. Please look at the message I left on your "My Page" earlier this week and see OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) (clickable link).

PIR for those arriving 05/06/2013 could be 07/05/2103 or 06/28/2013 depending on when the division filled. You must wait on the form letter to know for sure.

First of all, wishing you a very Happy Mother's Day....and sending you a big virtual hug.  You'll find plenty of information on this site and rest assured we mom's/loved ones stick together.  Our SR is about 1/2 way through BC and I've learned that 'no news is good news'.  Keep your cell phone charged and if you can, call forward your home line to it....I've learned to 'square chest' by tucking my blackberry into my bra and I don't anywhere without it.  You'll find plenty of help in the planning department (especially within the BC group and then again in a sub-group with his PIR date).  The best advice I can give is read everything you can, follow every link.  The more you read up on what the expectations are, the better you'll feel (including reading past posts).  Good luck and remember we're all in this together.
