For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Bringing an elderly grandma to boot graduation
Does anyone know the logistics of bringing our 90 year old mom to see her grandson graduate? Although she doesn't usually need any walking assistance, we will have to rent a wheelchair based on the amount of walking I am reading about. I wonder where we get one? Then, will we have to request handicapped seating? Does anyone else here have experience with this situation?

I too have an elderly mom traveling with us to see her grandson graduate. I emailed rtc.pao@navy.mil (I believe I got this email from the www.bootcamp.navy.mil address in the form letter)and they assured me that it was very easy to drop, her off at the entrance to the visitor center and that there is handicapped seating on the floor of the drill deck for the wheelchair and one other person. There will be people there to assist in seating you, just tell them your son's division and they will get you there.There is also a handicapped parking lot. You might want to check with your mother's doctor to see if he couldn't give you a temporary parking pass to bring along with you so that you can utilize this space. I believe it is somewhat closer. Hope this helps.

they also have wheelchairs available and will pick them up right at the car and take them to the seating area.

RTC will make sure your grandma is taken care of and there are lots of recruits waiting with wheel chairs to take her into the hall.

Sara, we attended our son's PIR Dec 2010 along with my in-laws. My MIL has arthritis in her knees & has difficulty walking long distances. Since we live in central IL, we chose to stay at my sister-in-law's house & drove to the PIR. We had my MIL's handicap placard to hang from the mirror & utilized the handicapped parking in the garage at the graduation hall. There were wheelchairs available, but she didn't it. It was a short walk into the hall. There is handicap seating on the floor available. The key is to arrive early. We arrived at Great Lakes approx 15 min before the gate opened & traffice was already backed up.

Sara-kay, we took my Mother last week , who is elderly and it was fantastic. We had SARGE taxi service take us and he got us within about 100 yards of the drill hall door. Then once in the hall there was plenty of room and they are very helpful. No need to worry about anything - Congrats and enjoy !!!
