Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Calling all moms of "children" starting bootcamp 7/8/15
I am so very thankful to have found the NAVYForMoms website and Facebook page. Without it, I would probably be curled up in a ball with three or four empty tissue boxes strewn around me! I am so very proud of my son...this is all just so unfamiliar!
I would really like to get to know other moms with sons or daughters who started boot camp on 7/8/15...as a single mom, I could certainly use the support, reassurance, and guidance!

My son started boot camp yesterday too! The call on Tuesday night was another punch in the gut. I am also battling Stage IV Breast Cancer and has chemo yesterday so it's been a hectic, crazy week. We all feel so numb, but each day has been better.

Hang in there MyloScout! Keeping you and your SR in my prayers! Our son left 7/7 for RTC/Boot Camp. You are right, that call... no amount of preparing for the scripted call will make it easier. I was doing pretty well up to that point. I didn't even cry during his swearing in. Oh well, it does get a bit easier each day but I still go to bed thinking of our son and wake up thinking of him. I have to trust that he is doing what he needs to do to become a SAILOR.
Just think of how exciting it will be to attend PIR and see all of our SAILORS!

Hi Coltn's mom!I too am a single mom whose twin daughter shipped out of San Antonio on 7/8/15. This is new to me and it would be great to connect with others that children left for boot camp that same day!! I was doing ok until her twin sister began to cry as she was getting on the bus to go to the airport and then we all just broke down! I got a call from her last night that she made it. But then she called me again while I was sleeping I just hope everything is ok.

My son's scripted call went to his girlfriend. She's a sweetheart, and I totally understand. But, I waited up until 2:00am to hear from him. UGH!
I am sure your other daughter is struggling, too. They probably haven't been away from one another too much throughout the years.
I absolutely LOVE San Antonio. Surprised that your daughter chose Navy with so much Air Force in the area. :)

Hi Colton'sMom, I, too, have found this site and the Facebook page to be invaluable. So much information and the moderators and others respond to questions quickly. I have never been sent down the wrong path! And they never make you feel that any question is too minor to answer!

Hi, my son Adam started on 7/8/15, also. It has been extremely hard for his younger brother and myself. He is my oldest and my rock! I called last night at 2:30 with the scripted phone call and said I would get another call in 3 weeks. I was able to get his address today and have written several letter! I know he is safe and secure but I want to know how and what he is feeling! People have been so supportive but this group knows what i am feeling and experiencing right now. Also, found out graduation will be on the 4th of September!!!
