For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

cell phones at bootcamp
Received "the box" with my daughter's belongings last week but her cell phone wasn't in there. Her charger was in the box but not her phone. Does anyone know if the Navy just holds on to it till after graduation? Just wondering. She was able to call me on it when she arrived there last Monday when she left. (ship 3 div 152) Got the form letter yesterday. I miss her so much!!

They don't keep them, look in her shoes or socks. My son's was in one shoe and the battery was in a sock.

Take the cell phone with you when you go out for graduation. Get a phone card to send her NOW so she can call when her division is allowed. Costco has a 700 min one for $19.99, which is good because minutes are charged for USING a pay phone on top of the minutes they actually talk to you. We only got the 8 second "I'm here" call, one at 4 weeks and one the Tuesday before graduation after they passed BattleStations. So, there are no guaranteed calls, it's better to only expect letters and then be pleasantly surprised. Even if you read that other divisions are getting to call, RDC's are different in their philosophies. In my son's case they were a 900 div so spent 4 hours every Sat practicing for graduations, and didn't get "reward" calls like some divs. That's the breaks, so just try to go with whatever happens!

My son's recruiter told him that he would be able to keep his cell phone at BC and that it would be in a "searchable locker" and if they were caught using it without permission it would not be good. We have not yet received his box so I do not know if he was allowed to keep it or if it will be in the box.

Ginnibean wrote on March 9, 2010 ~ a bit of advice about the cell phones, the Chief told us they were getting to keep them now (the Air Force does this too) to make calls but that they wouldn't get to charge them while at BC so have your SRs charge them while they are at the airport, or at MEPS, any chance they get, but sending a calling card is a good idea.

We find that recruiters frequently give out bad information. There is no chance that the cell phone will get to stay at BC with your SR. The Navy does not have locker facilities for those to be kept it. They all come home in the box.
