Hello all, new to the forum.  My daughter leaves today for MEPS and up to GL tomorrow.  Thank you all for your posts.  It has helped us prepare a lot.  I'm less worried and scared.  More excited and can support my SR better.

Hi! Your post caught my eye!  My daughter ships out on Wed. August 22 - perhaps they will be in the same division?

Hi RachelsMom - my son leaves for MEPS today & GL tomorrow as well! He's flying from San Jose, Ca. Where is your daughter flying from.

She'll be coming from Indianapolis, IN

Hi Rachelsmom,

Enjoyed reading your post, please know that you may feel prepared and right now you are. Tomorrow the game changes and you won't know what hit you.  There truly is nothing that can prepare you for the emotions that are going to show up.  The life line is this site.  Everyone of us understands so you don't have to try and explain why you feel the way you do.  This site is truly one GINORMOUS universal hug, everyday, everyhour.

If you are going to MEPS for the swearing in, enjoy it. The pride is unspeakable.  Be good to yourself and remember this ain't easy Sista!

I have a daughter that left last week. The only thing that keeps me going is she left with  a smile on her face. The phone call I got when she got there was uplifting too. She was happy and positive. I am so very proud of her and have all the faith that these young women and men can achieve this goal, not without its challenges, but they will overcome all obstacles and we will see them in 8 weeks become the sailors they set out to be.

Hello! My son just sent a text saying he landed in Chicagoan hour ago, checked in at the USO and has now 45 minutes to eat and return to the USO. He flew out of WA. I'm really excited for him...can't wait to hear from him again and how everything is going.

She called early this evening.  Safely at GL.  Watching the boot camp videos on You Tube and trying to imagine what she's doing.  Her cat keeps wandering around the house looking for her.
