As I sit here after dinner and the family has come and gone to see my daughter, she is in a hot long shower. I am still not ready for her to leave, but off to MEPS tomorrow.  Please let me keep it together as she embarks on this journey. I am so proud of her, but yet so not ready for this next path in her life.

Stay strong mom you got this .we are know how you feel .my daughter grad 8/11 keep busy write letters it really does go by quick .navy mom hug

My daughter left yesterday as well. It was such a long day for us, so I can't imagine how she is feeling. She was still excited when she called us from Great Lakes. We were able to talk with her a lot more often and for a lot longer than I thought we would be.... still not enough though. :)

Hang in there Mom! I had many of the same feelings as you in the days leadinh up to my son's departure. As I think back, I thought about everything that must of been going through his mind as well. With 10 days til his PIR I am filled with pride on.how well he has done in boot camp,.how his persistance had paid off. He is setting the path of a great future. My best to you and your daughter ad she takes this first step toward a bright future

My daughter PIR back in 2012.  Now my nephew is leaving today. I am starting letters for him today. As soon as I get an address he is going to be bombarded by letters. lol.

How are things going?!

Wishing you and your daughter all the Best! My son will leave 9/26 so I can not give too much advice how to deal with it. Stay strong!

I'm not on here too much but I am going through the preparations to get where you are. My son leaves Sept. 21.....I'm literally dying. Trying to hold it together is going to be tough......I just pray he starts working out NOW - as he tells me - they work you out together!!! UGH!!! I don't want to see him be the one everybody gets mad at for not being able to keep up!!

My Son got on the plane yesturday from MEPS . Made it safe to boot camp . The feelings of Pride and Sadness are two very hard emotions to have come together . I never thought  having my 1st born leaving the nest was going to be this hard. I am soooo proud of the man he has become, but completely heartbroken that he is gone. 9 weeks can not come quick enough. I have coached my son in hockey all his 18 years and not being able to coach him and give word of encouragement is killing me. I am lucky, he will be only 40 miles down the freeway in San Diego for  A school so I should be able to see him on the weekends. I am so glad this website exists it helped tremendously with question that I have had.  Thanks for letting me talk it has helped.
