I just received my daughter's address from her recruiter and found out that Graduation is the day before Thanksgiving!  The airports are going to be crazy!!  Anyone have suggestions on where to stay while in the Great Lakes?

Navy Lodge was a great place to stay. Close to base, very clean, and very reasonable. $66 per night.

OMG- My son arrived on the 25th, I wonder if it will be the same graduation date ....

I am staying at the navy lodge in 2 1/2 weeks I heard it was great!!! I will let ya know. I don't think they have any with a kitchen though.

We stayed at the Ramada Inn and I do not recommend it.

My son graduatued the day before Thanksgiving 3 years ago.  I chose to fly into Milwaukee instead of Chicago and rent a car.  It's a smaller airport so less crowded. And I flet the drive was easier and more direct than me trying to get out of Chicago.   I stayed at the Navy Lodge.  It was a great chocie.  Clean, close by and affordable - there was no increase in their rates because it was a holiday weekend.  We were lucky and he didn't have to leave for Pensacola until Friday after Thanksgiving so we got to spend Thanksgiving together.  I'm not saying that happens every year and we didn't find out about it until right before PIR so I would advise you not to assume one way or another but be prepared to be flexible.  Enjoy yourself!

My boyfriend also left the 23rd but I haven't found out when his PIR will be. Will it most likely be the same or could it be before/after? His original ship date was 9/22
@bananabear you will be receiving a letter in couple of days to a week. It will tell you all about graduation and there will be a pamplet with hotel accomodations. My daughter PIR is 31 Oct. She left on Sept 8th. I got her box on the 11th and the letter came on the 15th. I have received 3 calls since she's been gone. I hope this helps you.
My son is already in A school but i believe if they graduate the day before a holiday like that they dont fly out till the day after the holiday so you can spend that extra day with them.

My son arrived the day after and we were under the assumption that PIR would be the Thursday before Thanksgiving.  I hope for your sake that her recruiter is incorrect as they sometimes are.

We liked navy lodge as well. Book early :)

We stayed at the Navy Lodge. Great prices, great service, very clean. We would definitely stay there again!

What division were you given?
