For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

You will get the form letter in about a week and there should be a note on it from your SR. Mine wrote a whole paragraph. They are able to start writing entire letters the first Sunday in their division in BC. That was this Sunday for my SR but I haven't gotten anything yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Hi there...my son graduated from bootcamp August 26. He arrived in Great Lakes in June 28. The form letter arrived July 1- at the end of the letter your SR gets to write four lines. This letter will have his address, graduation date, guests names for PIR, and password for parking pass. Save it...start writing now. As soon as you get his address mail your letters. We received a real letter around week 3. Don't be alarmed if in the first letter if your son says he hasn't received any mail. The mail is weird, and will eventually get to him...keep writing. I wrote at least once a day. Ask if a shipmate isn't getting mail, and send a quick letter to that person...it's a huge deal for the kids to get mail.

We are in South Louisiana and we got our letters on Thursday. His friend in Arizona received her letters on Wednesday.

It will be difficult at first , but trust me it does get better. My son became a sailor on Tuesday and will graduate Friday. Trust me the time goes by pretty fast if you stay busy. I think that first week was the worst. You should get a generic letter in a week and the box to follow there after. Good luck and God Bless you and your family. This site is a God sent.

I know what you are going through. My son left Sept 13. You will most likely receive "the box" first...all clothes, shoes and stuff he went with that he cannot keep. You will then receive the "form" letter with alot of info, like his ship #, div #, address, and informational websites. At the end (for me it was on the back page) a short note from your son. I have not received a letter from my son yet, but from what I have read, do not expect it, till perhaps the 3rd week. Hoping for sooner. Hang in there..this website has been very helpful and the moms are super supportive...oh btw...purchase your son a phone card...evidently they need them. Just went to Costco today and purchased a 700 minute card for $20.00. Make sure it is activated before you send. Also, write him the phone numbers that you want him to have...Our kids are so use to cell phones that phone numbers are no longer memorized. They say it gets better, but for me it won't get better till I get a phone call from him or a letter. But, like you, I am so proud and staying positive.

My son didn't get a day off To write until his 3rd Sunday in bootcamp. He arrived on a Thursday, and his first letter was dated 17 days later. I'd been sending generic letters to give his shipmates who didn't get mail, and the same day I got my first letter from him, I also got 2 from his shipmates. It was a great treat! Don't be worried if you don't get a letter for a while. Just keep writing and praying. Your letters will come!

Finally got the letter!! My SR is in Ship 12 Div 370 and will be graduating on November 10th!! It was great to finally hear from him. It was almost a week between receiving the box and getting the letter. He was able to write a full page on the back of the form letter and it sounds like things are going well! Can't wait to see him in his dress uniform!

Glad someone asked the question. I didn't have to. My son just got to BC late late last night, so I was sitting here wondering what he might be doing, thinking, going through. It's weird not being able to just call or text him to see how he is doing.
